  1. Re:This is *not* flamebait on First Class Action Suit for Microsoft · · Score: 0

I think this guy has been moderated down because the lack of quality and knowledge of his post. We all have heard a million times the "It's not the OS's problem. Its your install, or your hardware, or something, but not M$'s fault." This IMO is not relevant to the (overcharging class lawsuit) discussion at all, and completely wrong as well.

Well, they don't have many options now...

The video tape format is becoming obsolete by the minute and it can be copied with a $50 vcr. Image quality is crap and the fabrication costs are high.

The DVD format is out there now, there are a huge number of drivers already sold, quality is ok, there are more features (multiple languages, surround, etc...) and the fabrication costs are only a fraction of what duplicating a tape costs. Also currently _there_is_no_ easy way to copy them, and if you do, it would be more expensive that buying a new one!

All toguether, there is no way back for the movie people. They are stuck with DVD's. The only way is forward, maybe creating a better protected format wich would take another two or three years to implement and two or three months for us to crack :)

Anyway they won't die of starvation, they are doing very well with easyly copiable video tapes. The are just greedy.

It could be the highest rated in Mz, but what about "real" speed?, as far as I know Athlons run in 200 Mz buses, and they are better in some areas too.

  4. Drivers on Games Drive Wider Linux Adoption · · Score: 2

The best way to get drivers for Linux is to have a lot of cutting edge games. Companys have a lot of profits on the "gamer's new fancy gadgets" ,market, so it will became commercially sound to port the drivers to Linux in order to get a little more units sold. Also, the "Linux compatible" ckechbox is becoming more common in gamer's hardware reviews.
