I'm not a hacker either, but about sneakers, I AM working on a setec astronomy algorithmn for RSA, been doing it for two days now, and I'm feeling lucky
1. There will be a top-defence-conference in Russia This afternoon, Putin doesn't have the keys yet.
2. The Russian safety blocks for the nukes were cracked by simple electricians using a couple of copper-wires and some tin. The millitary electricians can launch whenever they want to, so lets blame the millennium bug.
There are enough people who hate the western world.
Putin now has responsebility when the Russians attack. I live in Holland, most rockets are sited in the Kaukasus, so we'll be three hours dead even before our millennium begins!!!
Don't know any keyboard friendly WM, (yeah, MS-Windows 95 / 98 NT4.0w etc you don't have to use the mouse too much...).
As for my work, I use a Microsoft ergonomical keyboard, as I was having Carpal problems fighting millennium bugs. This MS-keyboard is very nice. The keys are soft to press, but aren't pressed when I don't want to. The arms and wrists rest nicely on the desk.
The Carpal problems were solved. Anothing thing I discovered was that most pain is caused by the nummeric keypad. There is an advice to use keyboard macro's to do things you do most... DON'T use nummeric keypad! I did, went to a doctor eventually.
It's a pity that X-windows doesn't work with the keyboard very well, (i.e. focus with the tab key). I myself have X running on Linux, and if I have to do some work, I usually do it on console.
If you work on a Solaris network, you probably don't have text-oriented consoles, so no solution to this one.
Another thing with mice: I have a mouse-pad with wrist-support. I push myself to put down the wrist first, then use the mouse, it does stop the acking.
Here in the Netherlands you get paid overtime, or if you don't, there is a maximum of hours you may work overtime. I myself don't get any overtime, so I don't work overtime. I don't like projects to fail on me not working overtime, but the deadlines I have to achieve are always pushing me to work-longer. We usually have work for about ten people, doing it with just three. Meanwhile the boss accepts new orders and just plans it in as the Customer likes it best. Usually we don't like it.
The stress at my firm is continues and the pressure is continuesly up.
I don't want projects to fail on me not working overtime, but I won't work longer before there is any attempt to make better plannings. Secondly, if I work harder, I'm not rewarded, so the system is like the communism - so I won't work hard!
The situation doesn't statisfy my very much, and for an employee in the IT business, I can get another job any time, and that's exactly what I'm going to do!
Anyone in the IT-business can get a new job anywhere anytime, so you don't have to buy it to get the feeling you're underpaid.
NT performing better than Linux, I guess I can accept the results. But in what sense are the benmarks a Solaris-level comparison. Don't Microsoft try to compare Windows NT and Linux on points where useually Solaris is the only winner? OK NT performs better than Linux, does everybody need that performance? Just some little doubts I have
I'm determing a cross-platform demand as well. We're gonna use Java as this is the safest network/cross-platform language there is. Other alternatives would be JavaScript or ActiveX, which aren't safe. Especially ActiveX which was developped as a Java competitor, there have been many security leaks, and we haven't seen the end of this yet.
Cross-platform nowadays means something different than it used to mean. In the early days cross-platform meant -multiple processor-, it now means -multiple processor, multiple OS-. Does it? If you want to develop cross platform - the hardware way, install Linux on all machines, of you want to be cross-platform Hardware and OS, use something like Java, JavaScript or ActiveX
Try to avoid CORBA, this is middleware, and middleware is glue for different platforms, and a pain-medicine. Though IF you HAVE to choose for an ORB, DO choose CORBA, more than 300 organizations participate in the CORBA development, there won't be an end to this the next 10 years - in my opinion CORBA has continuity and has the future.

For arguments sake -- enigma was never cracked... the allies caught a sub-marine containing documents with the enigma codes....
It's a spin-off of a Swedish show.
We now get 11 people who will live and tour in a bus. Who have to eat bugs to win a price of one million dutch guilders (about half million dollar).

Nope, most nuclear heads are sited in Kazachstan.

New Zealand does have this Swiss clock which now says 1-1-19100 Errr.... They can't help it, 3000 Swiss are now out of electric power..
