I think the development slowed down. Remember that no major computer software company is contributing to its development and it is going to be GPL.
Freedows I once heard that they would get something out, at least an alpha in 1998, then 1999, then 2000. The Cache Kernel idea is a good one.
If only IBM, Dell, Gateway, Compaq, or some other computer company would help out, it might be a decent OS.
With the Application Kernels it was supposed to run DOS (FreeDOS actually), Linux, C64, TRS-80 COCO, Macintosh, and Windows 3.X with the possibility of 32 bit Windows code. If this puppy ever sees market and gets ported to the X86, PowerMac, 68K, CHRP/POP etc platforms, it could give Microsoft a run for its money.
If a company does not make an update for a program in 5 years, and no longer supports it for 5 years, should it become public domain? Should people be able to access it for free?
Let's say Commodore tanked in 1994, it has been over 5 years since it tanked. Will the C64 ROM BIOS be open to the public to use in emulators, or make C64 type computers from it? Or should it stay copyrighted and nobody is able to do anything with it because some finacial company bought it from the corpse of Commodore and then sat on it?
Or will the Jihaders keep passing around the ROM and other stuff that has been abandoned by the companies that made it?
I have had many faked emails sent to me or my friends from various groups or people. Some threatening, some just harassing, others kind of stupid reasons for sending. Anyway I can take the headers of the e-mail from Outlook in the "Options" part and then forward it to the ISP of the IP address it was sent from.
You have a point that you can edit the message before sending it. But shouldn't the ISP also have a copy of the message on their server if it was sent from there? Assuming they used the ISP's SMTP server and not some Anonymous SMTP server?
The author of ADC2 explains why he doesn't think the photo is a hoax.
Some say the Mac Cube looks a bit like the old Amiga Walker project that never got past the prototype stage. http://www.spock.mem.net/amiga/wa lker/walker.html It was killed about four years ago. Rather than a cube it was a rounded off trapezoid with feet on the bottom. Just slightly different than that rumored Mac Cube.
Like I really want to read 39 messages a week from junk spammers about green cards, porno sites, credit card machines, MLM, make money fast scams, and other stuff?
I wonder if anyone owns dontyouwish.com as I tend to use that in place of nospam.com?
How about? bitbucket.com devnull.com goaway.com idontlikespam.com foobar.com and many others that are used?
Get a Bionic ear with cellphone capabilities. A microphone will be implated in your jaw and a speaker in your ear. No need to bother others as only you can hear the ringing and the other person. Only prolem is when you speak.
What kind of speed did you expect out of a Drangonball 30Mhz processor anyway? Those 85Mhz MIPS processors in Windows CE machines aren't even fast enough to emulate a Gameboy at full speed, seesh!
You guys ought to duke it out on that Yahoo club at http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/linuxsucks because they use the same mentality there. Just keep it off Slashdot, ok?
Apple created the Evangelists, then afterwords the Mac Jihadists came out as a result.
Anyway Apple grew because the Jihadists made newsletters, web pages, spammed newsgroups and mailing lists saying how great Apple is. Then people believed them. No matter how bad or poorly Apple treats its customers, the Jihadists are there to whip them into shape. Getting no money from Apple, they are like singing Apple's praises. They also knock down anyone silly enough to promote a technology other than Apple's.
Apple also promised CHRP/POP support in MacOS 8.0 and Rhapsody. I see now that Rhapsody's replacement OSX does not have CHRP/POP support and MacOS 8.X and higher has limited support (no mouse or keyboard support, no video, etc.) so Apple never kept its promises. Until Apple bought out NeXT, they would never have made a true VM and PMT and all the other things that Copland promised. Only by going to Unix was Apple able to give the customers what they wanted.
Web sites such as The Apple Doomsday Clock talked about all the mistakes Apple made and why they just don't get it.
Face it, the iMac was nothing but what the Microsoft/Intel NetPC promised which was based on the Sun/Oracle/Netscape Network Computer. All Apple did was make it popular with translucent plastic and a case shape that resembles a woman's breast from behind the iMac case.
BTW the Mac Cloners paid a hefty fee to clone the Mac. If Apple didn't charge enough of a fee, then that is their fault and not that of the Mac Cloners.
The truth of it is that the cloners came up with lower prices than Apple for low end systems. Apple got jealous and wanted that 0.25% Mac Marketshare back so they killed off the cloning!
Microsoft had USB support in 1996 with Windows 95 OSR2, long before the iMac came out. Please be more accurate in your Jihadist rants, ok?
The clones could have used BeOS, Linux, BSD Unix, or any number of operating systems for the PowerMac platform. The only thing that would have been gone would be MacOS if Apple folded.
Power Computing was looking to license BeOS as an alternative to MacOS before Apple bought them out.:(
So instead of Apple losing money, many Mac Cloners went out of business? One of them, Power Computing, got bought out by Apple after the clone licenses got revoked. If it was Microsoft, that would be anti-competitive behavior.
Like if Microsoft said "Windows 2000 will only run on Compaq machines because they partner with us to develop it." and then Microsoft buys out Dell because they can't pre-load the latest Windows and are going out of business.
Also to avoid bleeding money the Newton, Pippin, Apple Printers, Apple scanners, Apple digital cameras, etc got the axe. Face, it, to become profitable Apple had to cut out a lot of things that didn't generate enough money or that cost money. Like tech support for older Macs, etc.
Away like Microsoft, the Apple customers get abused but keep coming back for more. Amazing!
Sorry the link should be http://normad.webhostme.com/jihad.asp Somehow the space and the quote got cut out of my typing. Either my fingers fumbled or a buffer got cut. Any editor want to fix that?
The Mac Jihadists are those who have a daily struggle to promote Apple and the Macintosh at no cost to Apple. They post on newsgroups, forums, Internet Clubs, mailing lists, and then hang out at consumer electronic stores and try to talk people into buying Macs instead of the cheaper PC systems.
There is a Jihadist simulator at http://normad.webhostme.com/jihad.asp which tries to simulate an argument a Jihadists might have. While their posts are not usually random gibberish with computer terms thrown in, they are not that far off the path. They almost speak in tounges when excited.
But anyway they get consumers, small businesses, colleges, churches/temples, etc using Macs instead of PC Systems. They are usually overzealous and not every Mac User can be a Jihadist, it is an elite club. Maybe about 2 million out of 53 million Mac Users are Jihadists.
Not only that, my employeer requested I remove the link to them from my website, and take them off my online resume.
I even had a few wild people of the Internet threaten to contact my company and harass me because my views differed from them. So no more posting information about me or my company in public.
What if you just don't mention your employer's name? Just say "the company I work for" or TCIWF or something instead of the real name. That way you can vent without getting fingered for it.
There used to be a time when you could talk about your job and the company you worked for at any bar or public place without worrying about a wire tap or someone tape recording your conversation. Most people are just blowing off steam.
But now, if some Big Brother company is recording what you say and sending it back to your employer, better button your lip or use an account that can't be traced back to you.
We used to enjoy the right of free speech to b*tch about the companies we worked for. But apparently, not anymore.:(
So how do we get rid of DSSAgent?
on
Mattel Spyware

Can we nuke it from the registry, or does the children's software reinstall it if it gets removed? I think we ought to boycott Mattel owned software until they remove the DSSAnget from their distributions.

Maybe some day it will be possible?
Why not set up an Ethernet network, use the Linux server for IP Masqerading and have the other systems share off the Linux box via a proxy server?

Like that will happen when H. Ross Perot gets elected president of the USA and Apple starts making Intel CPU based workstations! Arrrrggggghhhhhh!
In other words:
When pigs fly!
When the Phoenix Cardinals win the Superbowl.
When the USA annexes Canada and Mexico!
