Outgoing SMTP is broken here in RI, and the bastards block outgoing SMTP to everything except their SMTP servers, which are broken, so I essentially can't send mail right now. Fucking Cox.
RoadWired. I've been using the same RoadWired bag for 2 years, and gone thru 3 laptops with it. The one I have has enough pockets and pouches for all your gear, cables, extras, etc. The shoulder strap is made from the same material that car seatbelts are made from, and the padded shoulder strap and carry handle are both very comfortable. I'd definitely recommend this bag. I purchased it for extra protection when I purchased my Sony Vaio slimline notebook, but I swiftly ditched that laptop, and used the bag with a 15" TiBook and now a 12" PB. Fit both fine. Don't think it would fit a 17" LapZilla though. I think I paid around $150 for my bag.
will calculate ALL dependencies, download them one at a time, and compile them (from source, NO binaries) in the correct order, right before your eyes. Works every time.
And, updating a system is as easy as
# emerge --clean rsync # emerge --update world
do this daily, and you've got a 100% up-to-date system.
I just built a brand-new system, and ordered everything except the case from Newegg.com. Very good prices, service, and quite fast shipping. I"m very happy with my new box.
Definitely the best distro IMHO...

Gentoo Linux 1.2

I've used the latest versions of Mandrake, RedHat, Debian, Slackware, and FreeBSD. I'll stick with Gentoo, as it gives me everything I want, and nothing that I don't want. I can be on the 'cutting edge' of software, and still be stable. Paired up with PartImage I can back up my system with a few clicks, update the packages with 'emerge --update world' and in the (VERY) RARE instance I have a problem, I can restore my system from a set of CDs, or another disk in my system.
I'm not a newbie, but not a super-duper-l337-advanced user either, but Gentoo's allowed me to learn a ton more than the RH-based distros ever would have. And, it's friggin lightning fast on my VIA C3 900MHz system w/ 512MB RAM.
A good friend of mine had the very same situation, upstream-only cable modem. The cable modem that he was provided with, however, did the dialing, NOT his PC. He instantly was able to use a broadband (LinkSys actually) router. Look into that possibility.
Icecast works great. Radiostorm (http://www.radiostorm.com) is using Icecast, and their feed is being re-broadcast by Adero (http://www.adero.com) servers around the world. Give it a shot!

Where would one buy a display?
Just did this Friday. Played on PIII/700's with Intel 810's fine. 10.00 per copy at BJ's and Wal-Mart. Not bad.
