  1. Re:This helped for the apple recall too on Dell Battery Recall- Win for the Web · · Score: 2, Insightful

I'm just surprised Dell owned up to replacing 4 million batteries. that's a pretty big kick in the wallet for Dell. the funny thing is that Sony was the battery manufacturer; Dell just purchased the batteries from Dell and stuck them in their laptops. I wonder if sony will bear the financial burden when all is said and done.

  2. Re:How disappointing on 'Stargate: SG-1' Cancelled · · Score: 1

Yes, i agree. I really enjoyed the show. Episodes I don't care for I don't watch. My favorite episodes were where the actors just relaxed and played "themselves". For all the slashdotter's out there who despise this show did it ever occur to them that there's other channels on the TV? I don't like Oprah but i don't get on a forum and whine about how much it sucks....i change the TV channel. SG-1 is one of my favorite shows...not because they respect the fundamental laws of physics (which no movie out there does anyways) but because of how well the actors get along. Besides, one day Capt. Carter may show up naked....it could happen. As an engineer, i think it's funny that they cast a woman to be one (which is very rare in my line of work). even more rare is a woman engineer in the military and she's HOT! What a great idea on the producers part in casting. I'll be sad to see SG-1 go but i'm still giving atlantis a shot before I stop watching that. It took me several years of SG-1 before i really got to like it. ~LP

Agreed! I also find it disturbing that pop culture makes it cool to be a bum, do drugs, and drive flashy cars. 10 years ago i managed to see past all that superficial crap and saved my money for college. i got good grades and a full tuition scholarship to college (albeit two states away it was free money). my degree of choise (BSEE) got me an internship with the company that i now work for (over 7 years now). i'm making plenty of $$$. i'll never be rich but it's certainly better than $8 an hour at burger king. it seems foolish in my opinion not to get some education in this day and age. people lack the foresight for the future. when my dad was my age a BS was optional to get a good white collar job. today, it's mandatory in my opinion. i'll bet by the time i'm 50 a MS will likely be the new weed out. i'm banking on the fact that my Bachelor's in engineering is not an easy degree and will carry me.
