  1. Re:check out mosix on Distributed Operating Systems? · · Score: 1

Has MOSIX solved thier NFS problem yet? I set it up once some months ago, but it killed nfs on my network. And I needed that more than I did process distribution.

I'm using MOSIX and NFS together right now... in fact I've been using both together since MOSIX was initially released as a Linux kernel patch, and I have never had (nor heard of) any sort of problem as that.

In fact I would think that that particular combination would fit most of the qualifications for a "distributed" OS.

Is Plan 9 the same OS that was called OS9 a few years ago? If it is, then alot of digital slot machine networks use it as their core OS in Vegas and Atlantic City.

what the networks fear is the loss of the local advervising dollar. It is the same story with the sattalite dishes you can buy for less than $100 now. unless you can _prove_ that you cannot recieve local affiliates in the area that you live in, the sattalite providers can no longer provide the network feeds, for the simple reason that the local affiliates lose the advertisment time in your home.

The HGP is a joint venture funded by biotechnical outfits. These companies that map this information do so because for the first six months they have patent rights on processes they discover from (or in) this information. These companies only care about "the good of mankind" _after_ the patent window has expired.

How many times has it been my experiance when installing propriatary software that I have skipped over actually _reading_ the leanghty legalese licence aggreement straight to the "I ACCEPT" button because I don't want to "waste my time reading this BS". Many companies have gotten it in thier heads that the action of clicking this little button is just like signing a paper contract.

How much of our rights to privacy do we actually give up because we click the "I ACCEPT" button without reading the document first?
