I wonder how much Microsoft is going to care about the license on a particular piece of code posted to their new site. Are they going to respect the various licenses out there that prohibit use of code without prior written consent, or is this boilerplate supposed to nullify any existing license? What if someone were to post copyrighted, private code (knowingly or unknowingly) to this new site and Microsoft finds it useful and incorporates it into some product of theirs? Furthermore, how could anyone prove a case like this against a company this large and powerful?
The last page in the Internet Archive Wayback Machine for utube.com, March 8, 2005, doesn't refer to the company as utube anywhere; if they refer to themselves in a shortened form at all (from what I read) they called themselves "Universal". I hope that the courts prove that Universal Tube & Rollform Equipment is just trying to make a quick buck and the company loses out on lots of legal fees.
I certainly didn't have a parent around me 24/7 while I was a child and I didn't grow up to be a bully or worse. Parenting does not require around-the-clock attention; it requires solid values and the teaching of right and wrong. If you're incapable of that, then maybe you should sterilize yourself and do the rest of us a favor.
