  1. Unacceptable on The Death of Privacy · · Score: 1

If companies cared about privacy, we wouldn't see so many laptop thefts, data breaches and forwarded e-mails circulating everywhere. Recently Wells Fargo suffered another laptop loss (or should I say their clients suffered?) - far from their first experience. It is unacceptable for a company to lose data once, it is even more appalling when it happens over and over. There is only so much we can do as consumers to change their practices, but at the very least we can research a firm's privacy practices, security breach history and make informed decisions before giving them our business - and personal information.

..which is actually a really important quality. Though there is a lot of negative stigma surrounding the use of DRM for media files, it is also the backbone of email anti-theft software, which protects your outbound email after it has been sent (not just in transit, like encryption!). Because DRM does not expire, your files are protected for their lifetime. So the glass is either half empty, or half full... depending on how you look at it... because this exact capability can prove to be priceless in the email world.

  3. other uses to DRM on FairUse4WM Breaks Windows DRM · · Score: 2, Interesting

Though it does have a negative stigma surrounding the technology, DRM isn't always the enemy. For example, it is the backbone of email anti-theft software, which prevents your information from being stolen or redistributed when sent through email.
I think too many focus on the negative aspects of DRM associated with media files to remember that it has some very useful qualities.

  4. Email anti-theft software! on The Greatest Software Ever · · Score: 1

Just to add to that list, Taceo is an email anti-theft application that allows the sender to disable the copy/print/screencapture/forward functions after the email is sent. Email anti-theft software is extremely important for small and medium sized businesses in protecting sensitive data of their company, employees and customers.

  5. Creative ways to battle spam on AOL Digs Up Yard for Spam Gold · · Score: 2, Insightful

Since AOL's conventional ways to battle spam were obviously lacking results, they've turned to very creative methods to fight back. But seriously, why aren't they employing better security methods? AOL has always had a problem with spam,, at least when I was a customer. Though this might make a good read, I don't see it as a way to solve the problem.
