Sorry guys, but for example I have a 62 year old aunt, and if I wasn't her nephew, she would probably have a dell running windows xp compromised to hell and back and still thing she was running fine. She didn't even want a PC but her work made her get one as they now do all communication over e-mail. Normal users especially the older population are easily tricked by simple pop-ups and don't even realize it, but who goes after those companies?
For the record my aunt and uncle have become rather proficient with their PC use and are running Ubuntu 6.10, so yes a person can be taught, but did their business offer any kind of training? Nope, I had to do it, and if I didn't and they had gone the "normal" route, then odds are good, there would be one more machine propagating worms across the net.
I have a small server that I run FTP and some java game servers on (MegaMek) I've used SuSE as it was my first distro, but I use ubuntu for my desktop environments. Before this post, after hearing about M$ and novell working together, I decided I'm switching my server over to another distro. I have yet to decide which though, but I'm getting rid of SuSE like the plague as is my buddy who I just unfortunatly got hooked up with SuSE.
Seriously, if Windows was more secure then it would be safe, even in the test labs, and since Apple admits to knowing this, they should in their labs have active security measures against such problems, if they're gonna offer their product on the Windows platform as well.
Come on now, just cause someones charged with murder, should that really stop the progress of technology? I can see changing the name if he's convicted, but what happened to innocent until proven guilty...
They have to have real jobs to cover what they sit on so screw it if someone is a big enough fan of debian to DONATE money for them to make sure they get it out on time let them do it. Hell, might even get the best release yet as those programmers are doing nothing but focusing on debian.
