Not unprecedented, but really rude...
Hey, last April I was laid off from Charles Schwab's IT dept. via a phone call. My boss's boss's boss was too much of a coward to wait until I was in the office to do it face to face. Not everyone got this treatment. I was special - well at least the chain of command was special:=))
Don't worry about me, though. I received a hefty severance package and now have my own business.
