Surprize, surprize!
I tried to submit this story to./ sometime back but of course, they wont accept it:-)
Before that, a comment - if its posted on internet AFTER the game is released, it might be the "pirates" who are responsible. But if it happens BEFORE the release, most likely, its the "idiots" who are TOTALLY to be blamed. I never heard of the Coca Cola IP getting stolen!
Secondly, pre launch publicity is a HUGE requirement when I want to launch a multi million dollar game. I KNOW its gonna be floating on the internet anyway within a week (max!) after its release. What if I provide the bare minimum conditions myself for the same to happen and then after it does, raise a hue and cry! BAM, I get my share of BBC, Slashdot, CNN, newspapers, anti/pro-"piracy" crusaders, conspiracy theorists:-P talking about THE GAME. Thats WAY more than my smelly money could have bought! Strikes a note...?!!

dude... its YOUR comments that reek of racism! but let me give you the benefit of doubt and just say that you simply got hold of the wrong sources (of the worst kind!) to know about india.
as regards to computerization, it is slowly but surely improving peoples life. yes, you still need to stand in a railway line for half an hour but can you neglect the HUGE population these services cater to?! besides, i can have my rail ticket delivered at home by booking over the internet and paying less than a dollar extra for it. so, no lines for me, ever!
those who talk about "providing bread before pda" - HOW EXACTLY do you provide bread? As "humanitarian" aid that you drop from helicopters after you have finished dropping bombs?!! this technology btw IS helping the farmers grow their own bread more efficiently.
What is the marginal utility of finding out yet another prime number? Arent we doing just fine with the current ones? Or is this a radical discovery disproving something?
I was more than eager to install Core 2 & even managed to get the ISOs a night before the official announcement. The installation was a breeze. With the exception of my graphics chipset (VESA selected instead of S3 Savage4), everything else was detected correctly. But beyond that, it was a downhill ride...
up2date doesnt function correctly.
Font antialiasing is screwed up! While fonts are nicely antialiased for some sites, others, like/.;-), look very jagged. Its a curious phenomenon as to how can the browser be selective, but after a lot of playing around, I couldnt come up with a better explanation. Just to be sure, I ran konquorer, firefox and mozilla for the test. All the results were equally disappointing.
XMMS does not minimize correctly. It leaves the playlist and the equalizer behind, on the screen! This happens if you get the latest rpms from xmms.org. But then the one built in doesnt play mp3! As I discovered later, its probably an issue with kde3.2 and latest xmms.
There are some random momentary freezes, while opening menus, changing browser tabs, scrolling. There are some crashes as well. Even the console crashed once or twice!
Contrary to what others seems to have found, I didnt find it especially fast. Infact I'd dare call Fedora Core 2 a tad slower than Core 1.
On the whole, I found the font non-antialiasing the most bothersome and after a lot of lost sleep over it, decided to go back to fedora core 1 after 2 days and subsequently upgraded FC1 with kde 3.2.2 for the eye candy. I didnt particularly have the hots for 2.6 kernel so thats not an issue. All in all, I havent regretted the "downgrading":-). Only that xmms leaves behind the playlist here as well...
