I came "late to the party," at noon after x-mas. The hardships of having a life I guess... Did you see anyone giving even LIP-SERVICE to VHS's value for ARCHIVING? When I hit the library, I hate to use the Microfiche machine [it is grainy and hard to either search OR read,] but I DOES serve the purpose. For data, tape has always outperformed platters on reliability. I may send off to OZ for a bunch of VHS as they disappear, and just dig my player out when needed for news reports.

Huckabee might be a talking snake person who believes that the rapture will render all national security interests moot too. Did you see his platform? Memorable note was the politically suicidal attempt to introduce THE FAIR TAX PLAN http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer [grass roots people just like Obama]. He made a political statement, and let a (presumably) more electable candidate have the nomination. He stinks of being RATIONAL, NOT "Talking snake!"

Begging pardon for posting late to the party... Publish the IP address and have the court case. DAY OF PUBLISHING, apply at ISP for a different static IP for the network node, and use everything that is documented in the upcoming legal case. Ignorant means lacking knowledge. Stupid means slow to learn. Idiot means incapable of learning behavior. In the vein of "Fast, Good and Cheap - pick any two,"... pick two.

sorry so late in the discussion, but I did feel we should observe "EVERY generation has too learn for itself." By the time they learn, they have usually parented a generation of innocents who are ignorant of the problems of "life."

I agree the discussion should be framed as format shifting. Look at the Hollywood screenwriteres trying to make a buck off format shifting downstream... ROIAA doesn't believe in sharing the wealth that way do they?

I hate flames... but: M$ may never have been cool. There first product (DOS) was originally SCP - they just don't like to talk about it. You can see in the film Pirates of Silicon Valley that Bill Gates, ever the businessman, was not a programmer even at the outset. I have written the Dept of Justice (sadly with errors noted SIC) and you can read the letters here-> http://slashdot.org/~impengo/journal/190538 Regards, Robert B Johnson
