Local sources
Source A, local free small news paper "20min"
Source B, the national ISP and IPTV service provider BluewinSorry, source in German only (well at least it's in Schriftdütsch and not in dialect).
Source A has a side bar with an interview of one of the potester. His arguments, he's feeling danger, because :
- Mixing E-Sport could divert kids attention away from "real" (his words) sport and keep them glued to the screen.
- He's actually not afraid of money being invested into e-Sport instead of soccer teams (i.e.: not afraid of money lacking). But he'll find it problematic once the league's clubs start to assemble E-Sport teams. "What could this lead to ?"
- He's not buying the argument that e-Sport could attract more fans. His opinion is that a video game is a wrong reason to become a fan. He's actually against bringing even more people into stadiums (?!). Specially given that Bern's team is already successful for the last 3-4 years. He's not interested in pseudo-"fans" who are just following some fad.On their side, the proponent of the e-Sport investment actually want to fight the "fat nerd in the sofa" cliché. Actually the point is to have the e-Sport team have some fitness training and balance diets, some are actual soccer players, etc. They want to cultivate healthy gamers.
At the end of the day, they see eSport as a marketing tool, able to reach out and attract more of the younger generation.. -
Some in Switzerland paid a million and more
E.g. the following 9 speeders could chose between 1 year in jail or paying a million. Also all lost their licenses. http://www.20min.ch/news/zueri... I think any fine system that does not look at how much you have is not fair.

Re:Wider scope
Here in Switzerland, cows have almost achieved "personhood" - they are the most highly revered animal of all.
So even spying on a cow would seem normal now, since http://www.20min.ch/ro/news/suisse/story/Le-natel--nouvel-espion-de-la-police-28343960 the Swiss police are campaigning for a new law allowing them to monitor anyone's mobile phone (natel) without a warrant. Any time.
They snoop with an http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMSI-catcher.
Fucking fascists are everywhere now... -
Re:Yay! A violence-free country!
True. After great opposition from Army figureheads, you are now allowed to voluntarily deposit your rifle in an armory (more or less) near you.
Unfortunately, most of the affected population won't hear but a very brief mention of this as they get all of their information about their rights (few) and duties (lots, to compensate for the lack of rights) from their superiors. Informational material from critical groups isn't really welcome in the barracks and sentencing anyone passing around flyers to pay a couple hundred bucks or sit in solitary for a few days costs the judge-jury-executioner but a smile.
Going on, you're very reluctant to think of the annual mandatory shooting exercises. Most people do them on weekends, and business hours of armories tend to be rather limited. So apart from all the travel time to retrieve and deposit that hunk of scrap metal again, don't forget to look after it for the rest of the weekend. Oh, and take care not to shoot your buddies on the range parking lot with the (unaccounted for) ammo you picked up there or any of the 3 million bullets (forced upon anybody with a gun, back in the day) whose whereabouts nobody is really sure of. -
Re:First step: Understand why women have babies.
Guilt, i suppose - that Western Europe made it, and some nations didn't.
Many illegals too. Borders are open, which makes it easy to get in. Guilt strikes again, and the people aren't made to leave.
Just a few years ago (20-30, so before i was born) it was pretty difficult to get a Swiss passport. Nowadays the rules have changed, and even if you don't speak one of the four languages spoken here you can get a passport quite easily.
But the people here aren't all that happy with the situation - Switzerland has a half-direct democracy, and there are several initiatives and motions that intend to turn things around.
In 2007 votes, the SVP (a right wing political party) gained a lot of support from voters. Unfortunately, a lot of things went wrong when several leftist parties banded together to not reelect Christoph Blocher (a popular SVP figure).
The best english material on the topic i found was here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_People's_PartyRegarding guilt - look at this example:
http://www.20min.ch/news/zuerich/story/23037069Unfortunately, it's in German, a translation program might help you if you're really interested. 20min is a very popular magazine amongst young people and mostly oriented towards the left of the political spectrum. It's about a family that does not qualify for an extended stay here and doesn't want to leave.
(My bias should be obvious: I vote SVP)
