Many years ago, when I was a Usenet junkie, I frequented the abortion newsgroups and argued endlessly, pro-choice of course. (hey it was the 90's..I was bored.) I did some research and wrote this treatise on the incredible changes that occur in the circulatory system at birth.

For example, did you know that first expansion of the lungs actually reverses blood flow in sections of the central circulation? It's actually quite cool. In fact, as I wrote.."Immediately following birth, the umbilical vessels constrict. The arteries close first, and if the umbilical cord is not clamped or severed for a minute or so, blood continues to flow from the placenta to the newborn through the umbilical vein, adding to the newborn's blood volume."

But the reversing blood flow stuff is amazing.

That doesn't make abortion right

Exactly, it's preventing a lifetime of neglect and misery that makes it right, along with the other benefits to society brought about by decreased population growth.

I wouldn't say that, since we could also use this argument to justify infanticide.

Rather, I would say that what makes abortion permissible up to 20 weeks, is that a pre-20 week foetus does not have a functioning brain, and therefore does not think or feel, so the idea of ascribing it rights makes as much sense as attempting to nurse a headless chicken back to health.

As several sites have suggested 1, 2, 3, Einstein's brain fell in the range of normal for all measurements, except for the portion known as the inferior parietal lobes, located in the middle of the brain. This middle portion was 15% wider and had no groove.

So maybe the correct conclusion is not that bigger is better, but only the sections that matter. Remember, its not the size of the wand, its the magic in it that counts.
