Re:I hope part 2 covers the games from "A.I."
Just to set the record straight, there was a game based on A.I. It was called The Beast, and it was the first commercial alternate reality game. It was set between the first and second endings of A.I. and really fleshed out the world about 20 years after David left his family. If you noticed a certain weird job title in the film's end credits - that was part of this game.
Apparently the early development was done at Microsoft, so maybe this is where the ideas for the XBox games ended up? -
Re: Commercial Viability
A couple of pieces of evidence to the contrary
www.perplexcity.com - Commercially viable ARG
www.4orty2wo.com - Company that makes ARG for a living (behind I Love Bees, The Beast, and Last Call Poker)
(they're doing just fine thank you.) :)
www.gmdstudios.com (another company that makes ARG for a living) -
It's a shame...
It's a shame that there's only one company in this industry that can put on a decent show: 42 Entertainment. It's also a shame that they have to change their name for every big project they do (they were Myriad Entertainment when they made The Beast).

ILB by 4orty2wo
Technically speaking, I Love Bees was produced by 4orty2wo. Bungie weren't directly involved.

Re:Curse this ILoveBees ARG...
The whole ilovebees project was done incredibly well, with a very compelling storyline and above-average voice talent and directing. (Begin rant) My only compaint, and it is in no way a fault of 4orty2wo Entertainment, is the way the NYC meetup was handled.
MS or Bungie or *someone* made some errors, and I'm not just saying it because it didn't work out how I wanted it to (ok, maybe a little of that). Complaints: would it have killed them to add another 4 Xbox machines? Then maybe everyone could have had a chance to play. Could there have been a bit more swag? A DVD and a lanyard tag isn't much. Why give everyone numbered tickets if there wasn't anything to raffle? The three other sites had raffles, although one consolation is that the NYC crew managed to pretty much rock them all in the multiplayer, despite switching people every game or two. (End rant)
I would think that if they were to put so much money into the whole production, they would see to it that the culmination was a bit better executed.
