    Thanks to Blue's News for their story noting a single-player PC demo of DreamCatcher's FPS Painkiller is now available, with the 228MB trial version BitTorrent-able via GameTab and at AixGaming. According to the publisher: "The demo contains 3 Single Player levels including the never-before-seen Oriental Castle, the medieval town level and the Thor level where players will get 'hammered' with one of the biggest, meanest and downright scariest bosses of all time, Saphathoraél." There's a recent hands-on look at the title at C+VG which explains its style, suggesting: "Painkiller is usually likened to Doom or Serious Sam, and that's more or less spot-on, although this is Doom and Serious Sam utilising next-generation technology."

    JSDopefish writes "The demo for the PC game Unreal Tournament has been released, and Blue's News has a full list of mirrors [including BitTorrent links from GameTab and AIXGaming] for downloading the 209mb Win32 client. If you like classic Deathmatch, it's a great game - I still love one on one deathmatch. The site explains: 'The Unreal Tournament 2004 official demo includes five playable game modes, and offers fans their first taste of Unreal Tournament 2004's two new game modes: the introduction of the hyper-charged Onslaught mode and the return of the fan-favorite Assault mode, which last appeared in the original Unreal Tournament. The demo also features established gametypes like Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Bombing Run'."

Blue's News has a comprehensive list of mirrors for the 224MB download, including BitTorrent via GameTab and another Torrent from FileRush." Initial feedback seems mixed, with echoes of the recent interview in which Warren Spector agrees with the observation that "complexity is not the same as depth" for this 'streamlined' sequel design.

    David Adams writes "There's now a Halo demo for PC available over at IGN, including 'The Silent Cartographer' level from the single-player campaign, as well as the 'Blood Gulch' level for multiplayer action (CTF and Slayer modes, up to 16 players online)." The ever-reliable Blue's News has a list of other download locations, and there's a BitTorrent available via FileRush for this 131mb file, as Halo.bungie.org rounds up some of the reviews for the full version of this long-awaited, generally highly-rated PC version.

    Thanks to Blue's News for the information that the PC tactical shooter Hidden And Dangerous has been released for free download by publisher Gathering, to help trail the sequel, out next month. According to Blue, this 'Deluxe' version of the original "...not only includes the full version of the WW2 squad-based combat game, but also the Devil's Bridge expansion, all the required patches and updates, as well as the mission editor." There's BitTorrent linkage to this generous 264mb giveaway courtesy Filerush and via GameTab, and it's noted that you "...can also get H&D Deluxe on a CD as a bonus for preordering H&D2 at EB, GameStop, or Best Buy."
