Re:$60 million
Let them eat cake, I'm going to the moon baby!
If you would send them to the moon instead they could eat cheese.

It's all a conspiracy
Notice that if you zoom in Google Moon, you see that the moon is made of cheese. It's a joke you see, the moon isn't really made of cheese. However, if you zoom in on Google Mars, you don't see little green men. Don't you think that's suspicious? Surely if it were untrue, Google would have included it. Therefore we have conclusive evidence that Mars is full of little green men!!! The martian govenment are clearly colluding with Google to censor the Google Mars results!

Re:That's great but what about step 3?
Maybe there's no step 3 in regards to instant messaging. With Jabber being open and being used more and more (Google Talk is a Jabber account), with tools such as Gaim (heck, even with iChat you can connect to all IM protocols), I fail to see how any corp could be making money out of instant messaging protocols...

An article on how to set up iChat to interoperate with MSN and Yahoo Messenger, using a Jabber server as a gateway. Mac-centric, obviously, but it gives an overview of what you'd need to do. The MSN-Jabber translation is all done by the server -- there's nothing really interesting going on at the client end. I think the MSN stuff is handled by this piece of software.
At one point I found a site which listed Jabber servers and showed what protocol-gatways they had running, but I can't find that list anymore. The examples used on the link above are in the Czech Republic, kind of a long haul for a US-originated and -bound packet. -
iChat working with MSN, ICQ, Yahoo!
in addition to AIM and Jabber. How? They explain it right there:

A lot of friends told me about Adium. But hey, I love software integration and iChat integrates with Mail and AddressBook in a way Adium won't be able to. Both (Adium and iChat) have pros and cons, but it's nice to know you can use iChat for -all- IM protocols :-) -
MSN, Y!, ICQ through iChat - here's how
Here's how you can connect to all 5 IM protocols with Apple's iChat.

It works flawlessly and yes, it uses Jabber :-) -
Re:Konq/Opera/Safari Still missing features
I might also add that Safari's implementation of RTE is far superior to Mozilla/Gecko/Firefox.
