slow down and think for a second......
Asking for no computer intervention is missing the point -- unless you know and understand the encryption algorithm you can't brute force attack it.
If any slashdotters are attempting this, they'd better look at the text file here which shows how far people have got already.
They suspect the message is broken into a number of chunks, which appear to have been encrypted several different ways. They think that the last chunk of the message is encrypted with some kind of one time pad system, meaning the key is the same length as that section of text.
If you want to guess the key then be my guest, but it really would be smarter to try an intelligent attack involving all tools available to you -- computers and wits included.

Re:no Rage 128 support yet?
Nope. It's just not there. I for one am a VERY dissatisfied Rage Fury owner not because of the quality of the card, it's fairly good - in Windows, but because ATI was so damned slow in releasing specs for the card so that a driver could be written. Peak has the best info on using a Rage 128 card in X, but it appears as if there is only one guy working on the XF86 driver! We also should have a dvd player for X. IMO, this is not too much to ask. If Windows gets these things, so should X.

Re:Problems with the new setup
I agree, there are , not enough categories. How, for example, would one moderate Vittal's modified alien funrniture animated gif? There needs to be a category for hilarious for example or the existing categories will be abused.

I bet Linux isn't the only thing Gates is watching
Of course, Microsoft is always looking for new companies to buy, in which case I bet the people at Jujunem are worried he might get them, too! -
Speaking of web sites ceated in the mission...
Whether I'm first or not (I cannot tell with certainty), Jujunem was made right in the mission, too. It's characteristic of what the web used to represent.

There's even Y2K compliant software!Have a look at Ultimate Paint:
"Ultimate Paint is totally Year 2000 compliant, as it does not do any calculations with dates and uses them only when it saves and loads images (and that is totally operating system dependent)"
If your program doesn't use dates (and an idiot knows it too), why even mention Y2K? It just makes you a class 1 nimrod.
