Fight it? I don't care how much you pay them, Look at Linux. Could you tell me how many people "We the linux geeks" have put on the job of making Windows look bad? I think everyone of us do this, because it's like kids, When you have a kid you think it's better & smarter than any one else's. So we think Linux is better than anything else, Which it is... :) But MS seams to think it can FORCE everyone to think it has a better OS. haha, don't think so Bill. Now what about 1 pentium III 500, and only 512Mb ram, And run the benchmarks for 1 week, this is what we are running and the NT box has had to reboot twice now. Something about when it gets up to 50,000,000 hits it just likes to die, hmmm... We have the servers doing file copying and massave web hits for 4 days now. We havn't even touch the linux box since we have started. The linux box seams to be doing about 48% better then the NT box. I don't know whats wrong here, But anytime we do a benchmark Linux comes out on top. I guess it's a matter of how much Microsoft will pay ZDNet to run benchmarks. Source : ADN Labs

I have a web hosting company, running linux, totalhits to our server is about 500,000 requests per day, and about 30,000 visitors. The server is a Intel Celeron 266, 196Mb ram, Lots of hd space. The server load avg is about 0.30. Which i don't think is very bad. Ker 2.2.0. And I'm pushing it even more, The new users range from about 500, 2000 new visitors per day. I think perl and java are going to be something to think about, there is alot you can do with it. I run a web hosting provider, we charge $50.00 setup and then no monthly charges, People love it, And they get all the neato things like cgi-bin, etc.. click here for more info, But anyways, i think perl is a way to get things done on the web, Our FiP, "Free Internet Project" is going to use alot of perl and database kinda stuff. But i think alot of providers are not gonna like us, Just because we are doing something, no one has ever done.

heheh i hear yeah, My OC'ed celeron, is at 464Mhz, 103Bus, ABIT BH-6 MB, hehe i have lan partys all the time, and i see what the amd's can do.. And the 400 can keep up, But the cpu turnaround on a AMD sucks, they had to remove that code to fit, 3dnow, while intel added more without removeing.. But all i can say is pIII here i come, i like the fpu on it, for what i need a good fpu for, hehe.. Lan party site is here have fun!

I think linux has come a long way. I have been testing Win NT to Linux, With company needs, I have found that Linux can hold it's own with Win NT and haha GET THIS, Out linux server we tested on was a 166, the nt box, a 233, On some of the database benchmarks we ran the nt just won't keep up with the 166 linux box. Now it makes me wonder what would it do with the dual 350's we will have in two weeks? Well you can find out on the site when we benchmark it.. http://www.anvdesign.net
