Re:A few...
Love newegg also, use them frequently. Have also used these two occasionally with good success...

Although, I will admit it has been about two years since I have used either of those two, so YMMV. -

So I guess the answer would be the ATI video card. -
I seeThanks, that's very helpful. From what you say, all Athlon64 boards should be created equal, short of someone not bothering to wire up the high address lines. Perhaps that's the basis of Via's supposed 4 GB limit?
I did see registered DDR400 2 GB DIMMs available here, or so they claim. A bit much for your average Athlon64 buyer, as you say, but you ought to be able to get at least 4 GB from two of those, if not 6 GB from all three slots.
There's a dually MSI workstation board that is vague about its total memory limit (Via K8T800, 4 slots, supports 2 GB registered DIMMs, 8 GB total) though I've seen at least one review that suggested it had a 3 GB limit.

Re:No 2 GB DIMMs?As you say. Things are apparently less friendly in the Mac world than one might be led to believe, if vendors try that sort of stunt. Are they suppopsed to be custom matched to each other, like speakers?
;-)There is still this one. Insane price, but at least it's registered.

I had the same problem....
Go check out atacom. They have some great full tower cases, I bought one from them to use on my BP6, the BP6 is definatly the best Socket 370 board so far. If you have that board you may be interested in the Socket 370 Celerons @ 533 (8.0x66) are comming out soon. They will be the last 66MHz Celerons, finally, Intel will have to make a Celeron with a 100MHz FSB. info about the Celeron 533.

Re:the 366 goes 550 too.
Atacom.com sells OC'd celery chips that they've burned in and tested. Haven't bought from them myself, I just saw it on their site.
