Re:MOD THIS UP!!! PAYPAL NEEDS TO DIE.
Note that gunpal is the official payment processor of http://www.auctionarms.com/ [auctionarms.com] It's not some little fly-by-night company.
As a person who has never heard of "auctionarms.com" until this very moment, I don't understand how this precludes them from being a "fly-by-night" company. And even if working with this somewhat obscure website (at least I have never heard of it) gives it a patina of legitimacy, that still means nothing. Ebay is a VERY large and popular company, meaning (by your logic) Paypal is not a fly-by-night company, but Paypal still sucks and operates in the most ethically dubious of manners.
Sorry for being a bit confrontational. I've always viewed Paypal, and any other company that operates in the same niche as highly dubious. And just having the endorsement of the NRA doesn't cut it. I have nothing against the NRA, but they do, often, attract the lunatic fringe. The association itself, doesn't lend too much credibility.

Use AuctionArms.com for guns.
Their anti gun policy made me stop using ebay years ago....
That is why I switched to Auctionarms.com for all my gun related auctions.
They even have penny auctions. Just 500,000 pennies for a matching 1911A1 and M1A.
Please note that this is legal since a federal licensed gun dealer is required to ship and do background checks for transactions as required by law for interstate gun purchases.

Gun auctionsAnother example of a niche-market opening for auction competitors: guns, guns, and more guns. And yep, Brit Guns. The firearm auction scene has developed very rapidly over the past year or so, consolidating from a rag-tag of primitive sites to a handful of featureful well-trafficked sites (some of them virtual clones of ebay).
It's a perfect situation: the nature of the merchandise (lots of used stuff that is still valuable) lends itself to bidding, and big-ticket auctions are limited to FFL holders, so regular schmoes have to bid through a local gun shop, helping to mitigate trust issues.
Ebay refuses to list firearms.

Re:Very cool technologyAs a former member of the US armed forces I had to wear a kevlar vest from time to time. The vests I wore hindered movement considerably. They were not that heavy, but the inflexibility was the worst part. As I was finishing my term new vest were just making their way into use that incorporated ballistic plates (steel I think, maybe ceramic) to actually stop bullets. The vest I wore were only said to stop fragments not a direct bullet impact. The downside to the newer vests was heavier weight. If they can make the vest more flexible, lighter weight, and have better stopping great.
Was that the big ol' shoulder pad looking kevlar vest, or the REALLY old ballistic nylon/kevlar combo vest? We had the stupid shoulder-pad monster in Saudi in '91 and they SUCK! You feel like an inflexible barrel with stubby arms. You can't turn your head very far and forget looking up with that stupid collar.

Sporting advances
It's my opinion that the greatest technological advances in sports are modern hunting firearms. Without beauties like this, hunting would be ridiculously difficult. Pick one up for yourself today, and fill that deer quota in hours flat. On a sidenote, we really must thank the NRA for vigorously protecting our right as patriotic Americans to carry gas-powered semiautomatic pistol grip combat shotguns (capable of firing 7 76mm Magnum slugs in under 5 seconds) for the purpose of sport.
