Re:driving technique
It sounds like they speed up and slow down a lot, which may be fine on the open road but not as traffic becomes denser.
Although not quite the same pattern, in heavy traffic, you have no choice but to speed up and slow down a lot. Thus the term "stop-and-go traffic". ;-)
A minor point is that in most of the United States, at least, it is illegal to drive barefoot.
Absolutely false. Not a single US state actually has laws against driving barefoot, except Alabama and only for Motorcyclists.
Another related odd little "law" that doesn't exist, no law prevents customers (OSHA does address employees in certain environments, but not customers) from entering any place of business, including food preparation and medical-oriented establishments, barefoot. (Just to avoid the obvious "liability" response, business owners who post signs requiring footwear in their stores for "liability reasons" might be opening themselves up for "duty of care" lawsuits). -

Re:Exercising your feet
So, what is the solution? Go barefoot! Take off your shoes when inside and wear simple shoes that force your feet to flex like millions of years of evolution designed your feet to do.
You can take that a step further as I do and simply go barefoot most everywhere (weather permitting, which is year-round in California for me). (No, it's not against any law. Details here. -
Re:KDE or Gnome
The GNOME foot is bare. Bare feet do not smell. Well
..... perhaps briefly, after recently being removed from shoes and socks, they may smell for a bit. The smell is caused by bacterial and chemical action between perspiration {which cannot evaporate and so builds up} and shoe / sock interior surface {socks get holes because your perspiration eats through them}, and soon wears off your feet {though it stays in your shoes much longer!} See the Society for Barefoot Living for more details. In cultures where shoes are not worn, foot odour is unknown.
It would be more correct to refer to foot odour as shoe odour. But lots of things are known by inappropriate names. Pencil lead ..... adjusting the tappets ..... pulling the chain ..... almost every telephone-related colloquialism {OK, they used to make sense} ..... drug-related crime ..... just one of those little quirks of language you have to get used to I suppose. -
All the time...
I do PC repair, so of course I need to move drivers from the net-connected PC in the shop to various random PCs in for repair. Much simpler to sneakernet a floppy (although I work barefoot
:-) than configuring a LAN connection.
Most video and sound boards need a CD these days, but a floppy is still the easiest way to do a clean boot, load LAN drivers, etc. Also the simplest way to move documents between PCs at multiple locations. "Pendrives" and the like aren't supported across as many platforms as the boring old floppy. -
Re:warnings get sony off the hook? It's a health reason. The store dosen't care, but the health department requires the signs.

No thanks...I'd rather go without my computer than have to wear shoes all of the time...

Bare feet/yellow toe nails
Bare feet == healthier feet. Get your facts straight. See The Dirty Sole Society web page for more facts. "Yellow toe nails", if meant to imply fungus, happens more frequently to the shod. Dark, damp environments promote fungus growth. Bare feet do not live in such environments.
