or a rpg from http://basiliskgames.com/ -
If you're looking for something else...
I've had Eschalon: Book I bookmarked for a while. Haven't bought it yet because I'm working through a backlog of games, but it's piqued my interest as a fan of old-school computer RPGs.
Looks like they've just come out with a sequel as well.

Eschalon: Book I
Basilisk Games makes a wonderful turn-based RPG in the vein of Might & Magic and Ultima that has a Linux version and ran fine on my 3 year old Intel embedded graphics hardware. It's fun, addicting and has great replay value. http://www.basiliskgames.com/book1.html

Re:Linux users are used to free software
orly?
I dont claim you are wrong but you don't agree with you either - just from my personal experience.
Eversince i've been a linux user (and i've been one for quite a long time, around when first versions of slackware came out) i've paid for 3 types of software:
1) distro cd's (mainly slackware - because downloading wasn't a viable option)
2) Vendetta Online - http://www.vendetta-online.com/
3) Eschalon Book 1. - http://www.basiliskgames.com/
I've been a subscribe for vendetta approx a 8 months now and bought eschalon because demo version ran fine on my box and seemed to be really nice rpg game.
Ok, having bought 3 items in past 10 years aint much but 66% of those have been games. I'd like to mention that i'd be willing to buy more games too but been put off by quality. X2 didn't work on my machine and old loki games doesnt really interest me. I've been thinking of subscribing to Eve Online but emotions get on the way of running something on top of wine. Besides those, there just ain't good games available for linux or they arent marketed at all. Infact i was actually really suprised that i found Eschalon review on local gaming magazine and not off the internet on typical linux gaming websites..
rambling off. -
Re:Easy Answer
Where are the commercial game ports for Linux? No one wants to make them, obviously, save for the FPS crowd (and there's only an Unreal Tournament for Linux because Epic passes the buck to Icculus to get the job done, not because they have the in-house talent to do it themselves). There are a few commercial games for Linux, yes, but only a few, and there's very little variety between them. In the open source world we have a few good games (the majority of them being FPS's, what a surprise), Battle for Wesnoth if you like strategy games (turn based ones, that is). Then we have the unfortunate, ugly ripoffs like "Secret Maryo Chronicles," and other games that look like they were developed for a C64. Plenty of selection, not a lot of quality.
The following publishers develop comemrcial linux games:

There are also the high profile ones such as neverwinter nights, the doom and quake series, unreal, etc.
There are many high quality independant titles such as neverball, you mentioned wesnoth, crimson fields, flight gear, torcs, the spring project, total annihilation 3d, tecnoballZ, powermanga, tile racer, pingus, clonk, freeciv, ultimate stunts, planeshift, scorched3d, VDrift, silvertree (not complete, but being created by the wesnoth guys so likely will not be vapor), ufo: alien invasion, scourge, etc.

Many of these are very impressive independently made free games. Perhaps they lack the multi million dollar marketing budget and won't make your geofrce 8800 gtxz 45 x super elite ultra melt, but theya re *fun* games, and they are numerous. Also keep in mind this publisher and free game list is only what I could find in 1 hour of searching.
Then there are freed older commercial games such as warzone 2100, homeworld, descent 1 and 2, doom, quake, etc.

Eschalon: Book 1
If you have fond memories of names like Ultima, Wizardry, and Might and Magic, you should really check this game out...
I forgot just how much I loved true turn-based gameplay... games are supposed to be fun... it's always been tremendous fun to stop time...
Not a shill, but this is my game of the year. A great first attempt.
