This September 30 past, astronomers were ecstatic over discovering a few planets circling the red dwarf star named Gliese 581. They had known about Gliese since early 2008 but only just now have they realized one and maybe two of its planets are in the human-compatible zone they call the "Goldilocks zone". So how is the name Gliese pronounced? I searched for that, and found everybody pronounces it like the scientist name who discovered it. However, if you look at Gliese as being a regular word obeying regular-word rules it would be a two syllables pronunciation => Gli ese. So how would one pronounce Gli ese phonetically? Phonetically it sounds like Glee es, and matches the absolute Joy and Glee the world scientific community has been unable to contain. Evolutionists & Atheists now have a star all their own and wow, the pronunciation rhymes closely with Gee sus (i.e. Jesus). Imagine that.

In Bible times before Jesus was born they found a star also, but the star had found them. The so-called "star of Bethlehem" was not a real star; it was a fake star that Satan was somehow producing or, it may have been projected into their mind using the => demon's Ouija board power over human minds explained in this gif. Alright, so the Magi (astrologers) were sent by Herod, probably a funded expedition, to find Jesus so Herod could kill this new "king" before he grew older and took Herod's throne. Time to collate all this together. Today's astronomers, + the scientific community (+ the reams of college graduates indoctrinated to disavow the Bible with them), have dropped into a worldwide celebration they have come so close to finding other human life, or animals and plants even, on another world. So the atheists and evolutionists now have a real "Star of non-David" not a fake, so the celebration has begun and it is much bigger than the Joy of three Magi astronomers. Which again dovetails with the End Times having started in 1914 with World War I and now we are at the end of the Last Days so wha'd'ya know, Lo & Behold, a star has appeared to draw the non-believers away, their Pied Piper is Satan It's all coming together very well, like a big pimple foretold almost 2,000 years ago. The meteors and now an asteroid are just icing on the cake. Last year in October 2009, a meteor whizzed Planet Earth within the Moon's orbit. EXACTLY 4 weeks to a day on another Friday a second meteor did the same. And now, one year later and several weeks ago two meteors whizzed us within the Moon's orbit in the same day. One was about 200,000 miles but the other was 18,000. One of Jesus' main points about the "signs in the heavens" was not any ONE sign but when we saw MANY SIGNS in a close span of time in agreement and along with the unfolding of other prophecies not just signs in the heavens all by themselves!

Your explanation as to why to stick with 'hammering on the stuff within accepted science' is EXACTLY why 'The Gospel of Jesus Christ' is preached and not explained.

Are you an environmental scientist, or an environmental creationist? Do you look at all the evidence? Or just one piece, and make a conclusion? It seems odd to quote the bible to defend the Scientific Method, but in this case, the mighty words of Ecclesiastes have some words of wisdom: All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. Plus I couldn't resist the chance to post the first Bible link on /.

The West Bengal government says the Jadavpur University's School of Oceanographic study (the most exhaustive study of climate in the region) is insufficient to prove climate change. Says Atanu Raha, director of the Sunderban Biosphere Reserve, "Accretion and erosion are natural phenomena. Things like a rise in temperature or an increase in sea level have to be studied over hundreds of years. A 30-year study is not enough to come to a conclusion that the climate is changing."

Raha, who has studied satellite images of the last 20 years, says just as some islands have gone down in the sea, vast land areas like Thakuran char and New Island have emerged out of the sea because of silt deposits.

Getting offtopic here, so no self moderation. Then again, it seems religion and government often intertwine - especially in times of fear (perpetuated and natural).

Being a person who had not kown religion until being thrown into Catholic school, I have often looked at the bible through various translations. A good resource for this is The Bible Browser's Online Parallel Bible or what I like to call "The Gospel According to Geek". The entry for Like:22-36 is a fine example. All modern versions of the bible are represented together. Then there are links to modern foreign languages, Greek (including a couple of antient dialects), Commented/Ministry versions and finally a lexicon so you can look at what you would interpret the words to mean. It's interesting to read in this manner because the biases and directions of various translations can be compared easily - as can the similrities. Sometimes this can also put the slant into the open when browsing through entire chapters.

For the record: Today, I'm spiritual but not religious or adhering to any faith. I have found my own path. To me, at the least Christ (the man) was a wise and just man, whom I wouldn't mind using as a role model. It's what people have done in his name through the ages that makes me reject dogma (or any other spiritual leaders for that matter). It seems after a spiritual leader dies, someone will try to seize upon their followers for personal gain perverting the memory of the spiritual leader. I'm watching the future of Scientology with a definitely morbid Fascination waiting for this pattern to play out more. It seems to be a rare thing to witness ;D
