Documentary "Good Copy Bad Copy"
The well researched Danish Documentary(the Docu is spoken in English though) Good Copy Bad Copy
covered the Brazilian tecno brega movement and other examples of using digital content that are not necessary legal according to the Mega Corporations of content creation. Techno brega uses alot of sampling from major recording industry material. Tecno Brega artists give their content to bootleggers to distribute throughout Brazil. The artists themselves make no money from these CD sales instead they make money by throwing parties and burning recordings of their events to people who attend.

Re:Safari doesn't work...
There's a great video showing one users experience with Safari on windows. It really doesn't work:
http://blip.tv/file/265657/
This isn't even Beta software. It's totally unusable, if you can even get it to run. -
New York as well
Similarly in New York city there was recent arrest because a cameraman was apparently racketeering by videotaping a police car. There's a video on blip tv here: http://timesup.blip.tv/file/252942/ The police will do anything to arrest anyone who is seen as nuisance or a minor threat to their authority. Welcome to the police state!

Mark spoke at our conference last week...
We (the FFII) are organising a series of conferences to discuss the European patent system, and Mark Shuttleworth was our keynote speaker last week. (The conference had over thirty speakers and panelists, including Bill Kovacic, the US Federal Trade Commissioner...)
Mark spoke for 30 minutes, and his keynote is available here. He provided this very elegant argument against patents on business methods and most software: patents are society's gift to inventors in exchange for disclosure. When an invention is self-disclosing, i.e. you understand it when you use it, society has no interest in granting a patent for it, indeed is penalised by doing so, and therefore should not grant it.
More on the conference here. -
You can view our Ralph Baer Interviews
My buddy recently interviewed Ralph Baer at his home in NH. The interviews are online at http://blip.tv/file/158121/ and http://blip.tv/file/188528/. He's definitely an old school computer guy who would take designing circuits over programming any day.

Re:Copyright Ownership?
The video is clearly labelled as a Creative Commons where it's being hosted at http://10zm.blip.tv/file/169553/

The Simple Answer Not so SIMPLE
This user is actually spending time edit, rendering and compressing a video to contain an ad. Is putting an ad in a video illegal?
Make his life hell.
Remove his account.
Hi my name is belowtheradar I have posted 69 videos 33 with advertisements:
rm -rf /user/belowtheradar
Besides the article said he was uploading copyright videos. That's not necessarilly a crime itself, someone MAY have certain permission to use copyrighted videos. But the details are gonna be tough to know if belowtheradar had such permissions, and by who. Personally the whole thing sounds like belowtheradar is
getting paid by Gawker Media. (Perhaps they are the ones that should be held liable.) It's easier to just remove the account. Nobody wants the ads anyway right? This is why I hate Corporate Media. They don't belong on YouTube.
The other thing that is funny in the article is that ABC, "doesn't have a problem with a fan posting."
I got an idea, BAN Gawker Media *.* from Google, YouTube and ABC. How hard it be to find the IPS.
Let the fans rip the ABC crap! The lesson here is, "Don't put no ads in your uploaded copyrighted shit. It might draw attention to you."
The article failed to mention the email for ABC's video promotion, so we all can get permission to use ABC's shit.
Aamnda Congdon works for Gawker Media. Not ABC. right? Although she seems to have a thing for ABC eh? Citizen Journalist?
she's all over Rocketboom, HBO, etc. Someone must have had it in for poor old amanda. I wonder who's toes she stepped on. Probably something man. Taser guns? Rosie vs. Trumph, Big Oil?
I bet if you dig a little deeper, theres something there. Does she work for ABC or not?
ILLEGALLY JAILED VIDEO JOURNALISTS IN THE US AND MEXICO.
Ahh FOUND IT!
There it is!!!
http://www.betterbadnews.tv/
Flux Rostrum was attacked by police and had part of his video camera confiscated for covering an important demonstration in New York City.
Amanda Congdon has alerted her ABC news audiences to these events by showing video clips of police suppression of video bloggers submitted to her by individual citizen journalists.
Is this Amanda? http://blip.tv/uploadedFiles/Betterbadnews-1229060 1bbnnews326.jpeg
Damn girl. Lookin good!
The video clips Amanda Congdon has shown to date would probably not have been seen on a major network news outlet without her being there.
Well can't argue with that, The Article is all bullshit imo.
So is Amada affiliated with belowtheradar and or Gawker or what the fuck. I guess they'll just have to get sued and find out.
MEANWHILE, nobody is talking about how Fuckwad Bush tried to run down a press core with a bulldozer!
one thing is for sure the Bush Corporation doesn't like journalism. -

http://FreeVlog.orgThat should walk you through the whole process and it's the basis of how I started http://askaninja.com./
I believe Archive.org does allow FTP uploading. http://ourmedia.org/ uses a proprietary uploader, or did when we used it earlier this year.
You could also look at http://blip.tv/ and http://revver.com./ Both provide RSS and hosting for free and with Revver you can actually make money.
We use http://libsyn.com/ for some of our media hosting as well. They are good, reliable and cheap. They have FTP and tools to create a blog onsite (though we use a drupal site for our main site).
Good luck and create good podcasts!

What about Fox?
If I understand right, Fox bought Myspace and YouTube, or Myspace bought YouTube and Fox bought Myspace or some damn thing. Point is, what is Fox going to do with its collection of media. Follow the lead of Warner I hope. And why did Warner deal with YouTube instead of rolling out it's own service (lots of eyeballs good for media companies) or partnering with Google's video service or buy something like Blip.tv.
[tinfoil hat]I think something might be going on here[/tinfoil hat]
Yeah, I know it's Warner music and Fox is mostly non music, but still they have gots ons of stuff rotting away in vaults somewhere, you would think earning something from it would be easier than trying to sue/arrest/pester/etc. people for distributing stuff no longer on the air.

THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IS A FRAUD
A lot of us artists don't agree with the copyright laws at all. In fact, a lot of us don't agree with the legal goon system, period. It disgusts me at how easily geeks want and search for ways to cave in against the massive police state instead of fight it with every core inch of their being.
Geeks for one thing are better educated that the proletariat, they have seen the images of depleted uranium babies on the net, of the lies by politians, of the miltary gun videos brought back from the war of people in gunships shooting unarmed civilians on the ground and laughing about it. The government is a criminal despot, the military is its weapon in global domination, and the so called fraudulent justice system is its way of furthering its control over conquered territories on the fine grain level of individuals and people. There is nothing just about the justice system. Get that through your mind from the get go.
Sure they go after criminals, and are quite happy to, it gives them a moral leg to stand on for their power game. They go after innocent people to, and enemies of the state. Mainly they want to justify reserving all the power for themselves and none for you. Theft is illegal for the private citizen, but legal for the governement (eminent domain). Slavery is illegal for the private citizen, but millions of prisoners work every day in prison as slaves without pay and under durress. Murder is illegal for the private citizen, yet the CIA School of Americas carry out assisination covertly and untold amounts of people are euphamistically neutralized as "enemy combatants". Child molestation is illegal, and yet the military shoots thousands of tons of "depleted uranium" nuclear waste (depleted being a euphamism) around indiscriminatly, causing the grossest and most vile of genetic mutations in children for thousands of years to come.
For one thing, who here can say they have ever been asked to vote on one single law, period. Ever? No not ever. Who here can say they have ever had much of a choice in their so called representative government. I'm sorry, but having an election every 4 years does not cut it, nor does reducing your choice of canidates down to two, the least possible number and still be able to call it a choice (yeah, right, I don' think so, and both of them are scumbag long time political animals from what I can tell).
I don't know about the rest of you but forget it, I'm not abiding by any laws that I had absolutely no say so whatsoever in creating.
Laws are a criminal way to control people via fear, internalize control over you, and project power.
If you don't want your media in the public domain, never release it off your harddrive. Period. Once you do, data wants to be free, to travel, to be replicated a immutably in carbon copies a thousand times... that is its strength.
