Their example is the use of Windows CE in the BMW 745i, which apparently occasionally goes nuts. The best is the list of video clips showing off the possessed car." -
Computers and Cars: A Maddening Experience?
Johnny writes "The nytimes has a review of the new BMW 745i iDrive system. The iDrive system combines some 270 functions, some accessable by voice, into one tactile feedback joystick mouse thingy. While maybe easier for computer junkies, the reviewer finds the interface 'maddening, especially at first' and wonders out loud what a car from Microsoft might be like, citing that the 745i offers a clue. Without a key, a floor shifter or really any buttons, this might be the future for cars, are the masses ready to wrestle with computers just to go to Wawa for milk?" -
Nifty New BMW
Dr. DOS sent us a link to the BMW C1, which is supposedly going to be out in a few years. It's sorta a motorcycle/mini car thing (Sorta like in Terry Gilliam's Ultra cool Brazil). If you're looking for a distraction, this is a good one. -
More Sites Hacked
Following yesterday's Quake2.com hack, both bmw.com and Fox.com have been hacked. Fox was replaced with this X-Files Image sent to me by Scott Miga.Troy Solo wrote in to tell us that BMW's hackers left a new page saying "Let's Have Fun with German Cars" and a flaming image linking to Ferrari's web site.
