Re:Finder!
What is NSFW about Finder? (This isn't a snarky comment; I honestly am unaware of what you are referring to.) I'll concede that I haven't read much of it, but to me it certainly doesn't scream "NSFW" at first glance.
I'll concede that Schlock is a fine comic if one enjoys a comedic twist on military SF, which, much to my surprise, I do. As long as we're recommending webcomics, my favourites are Scary Go Round and its precursor Bobbins, Sinfest, and dinosaur comics, though the latter is certainly pushing the envelopes of "webcomicness"(but that, of course, is part of what makes it so great). -

Re:Maybe I did (a bit)
No one wants to use a computer with a slow system bus though. It results in terrible taste in films.

KeenSpot doesn't seem to be mentioned
I've been reading several keenspot/keenspace comics for a while now. Their model, as far as I can tell, is to give free web space to online comic artists, along with some helpful stuff, like scripts to archive old comics and post new comics. The normal site seems to make revenue off of banner ads, but they have several other revenue making ideas, and presumably they share the profits with the artists. They print up and market collection books, or periodical issues, as well as offering premium no-ads service to people who want it.
I have no idea how well they are doing, but I frequent:

www.crfh.net
www.bobbins.org
and a couple others.
