Cycling Orbits
Actually, astronaut Buzz Aldrin has considered it:

There are scientific papers on possible orbits, and I am putting the idea of transfer habitats in the book I am writing:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Space_Transport_and_Engineering_Methods/Interplanetary
The tricky part is dealing with the Earth, Transfer Habitat, and Mars all having different orbit periods that are not simple multiples of each other. That makes it hard to line up for transfers.

One hell of a guy.

Re:JPL has a good intro
What you're describing is called a 'cycler', and Buzz Aldrin, among others, has been kicking the idea along for years, see here.

Re:Hell yeah, I would. You just want to look at the earth, big difference.
Ahh...now I understand...you proceed from an incorrect assumption. I do want to look at the earth, yes (from space). I'd also like to look at maybe Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, and (assuming some unimaginable advance in propulsion systems before I die) planets outside of the sol's gravity well. The ability to take that look is worth something, maybe my life, maybe not...obviously it's not worth your life (we're using two different price lists), but that's just a nice side-benefit of what you'd actually be doing, which is to go to space.
Again...if you'd rather wait until spaceflight for Joe average is routine, then be my guest. That doesn't mean that other people who are eager to go *now* and damn the odds of getting back are stupid, they just have different desires than you do.
Care to wager whether Buzz would have gone even if he wasn't testing all the systems and processes needed to get to space? We could try asking him, but I dunno if we'd get a response.

Re:Myself, I prefer Buzz Aldrin's Response...
Buzz Aldrin rules. He is a west point graduate who recieved a doctorate from
MIT in addition to being the 2nd man to walk on the lunar surface. Best of
all Buzz is still kicking butt at 72. To learn more about Buzz go here. -
Dangerous G Forces? This is also despite the lack of scientific evidence linking G forces to brain injury, and 320 million riders who turn out just fine every year.
Former Astronaut, "Buzz" Aldrin seems to have suffered no ill effects or brain injury from high Gs from his flights and space shots.

Not true!
Every schoolchild recognizes Neil Armstrong as the first man to walk on the moon.... Nobody remembers who got there second...
Every schoolchild knows that Bull Aldrin got there second, if not because they actually care about learning such things then because they watch tv and have seen the NASA commemorative coin commercials he did a few years back. Celebrities are notorious for extending their face-time with endorsements -- how many people do you suppose only recognize Shatner as the Priceline guy?...
