Cool Map
Here's a Google Map of world's undersea cables.

I'm not certain of the accuracy but it looks cool. -
Re:Submarine cable map
That map is so much better and more informative than the tube map that I don't know why the latter exists at all. I know it's supposed to be a simplification, but if you condense that many cables into one route you end up with a map of countries that border the sea, not network routes. For example, there's nothing on the tube map to indicate that the UK is only one or two hops from Japan, or that the Seychelles are at the end of a line, even though it's clearly visible in both your map and the tube map's questionably accurate source material.

Re:Small World(s) Phenomena anyone ?
I just took a nuclear shit. It was the bomb.
(Am I doing it right?)
Used to be 3 Submarine cable gateways, two on the West coast and one on the East (New York), now there are a few more http://www.cablemap.info/ anything going those routes are sure to be monitored. Seeing as
/. is accessed in Europe, yes it should catch some attention.Satellite or radio communications I've no clue how that works out; but my Dads job in the Air Force up till 1970 was to support/monitor that traffic (Philippines, Africa, Azores, India, etc), and he never talked about his work.

Re:Do it! Do it now!
Australia can simply filter dns responses as they reach the mainland, since theres only one or two lines entering the country.
You must be using out-of-date info from someone like telegeography. Even The Guardian shows six internet cables coming into Australia and Greg's Cable Map shows seven (plus two to Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu).
