"works like a charm" - doesn't for me
It is certainly possible, but easy it is not.
The latest instructions on how to get seamless RDP to work with Linux are well out of date and never worked reliably or properly for me... -
Re:OSX, Windows 95, Vista, Windows 7
ThinLinc can handle advanced graphics where the graphics are generated on the server's graphic card, so it can be used on a client with a slow graphics card. It isn't (only) open source though, but there is a free version for up to 10 clients.

Re:Could have told you that was comingThe problem has been that for example Citrix is way too expensive for environments like a school.
There an open source, Linux plus Windows solution like Cendio's ThinLinc makes more sense. Unfortunately it's still a small company that so far only has partners in countries like Sweden and Brazil, but I'm sure that will change now when the Software has been proven for years and there're more and more happy customers.

In Sweden there is a Linux revolution going on
There are lots of Swedish municipalities that are looking at running their entire school systems on Linux. Two of them that are already doing this are Motala and Eksjö. I am sure that if you google for them, you can find lots of info about them, but here is a reference page from Cendio, the vendor that helped them do it.

Re:What is that supposed to mean?
If it was oss software, I doubt you would be guaranteed to get a team dedicated to fix a problem.
I hope that you are aware of the fact that there are companies out there, like the one where I work, who provide commercial support for OSS.
It is really simple: Provide money and you get a guarantee that there will be a dedicated team of clever people working on any eventual problems you have with the OSS you use. No exams or real jobs will get in the way, and there will be someone to blame if things go wrong. As I see it you get the best of both worlds this way. And yes, we have previous experience working on software used in the aviation industry...

Re:Great project, great company!
Nobody is.
I think these people are, and these too though they won't answer my emails..
Have a look at the Free Software Services Directory for more people/companies who appear to be cashing in on Free Software.
