Re:Still haven't tried these newfangled RSS reader
I can't recommend anything for Windows, but @ centericq has support for RSS feeds (and a whack of LiveJournal support, not to mention irc/ICQ/ypager/MSN plus some other protocols I don't use, and it's text-based).
Unfortunately, I haven't been successful in getting it to send newsitems via e-mail (although I did succeed with all the chat protocols), so I have a crontab running @ rss2email. (the reason I like sending all this via e-mail is because I have a @ Motorola T900)

Centericq is also broken
Centericq is also broken. I'd be happy to use an official Yahoo! IM client...if they had one that was console-based.

Re:Working for meWell, I am a couple of versions behind you (4.9.5) but konst (the author of CenterICQ) has implied that support isn't currently there. See his website here and scroll down to the section entitled Protocols Strike Back.
Also check out the FAQs on the CenterICQ fan site.
Anyway if you have a problem in the future use a Jabber gateway. Matthias Wimmer helped update the Jabber MSN gateway to support the latest protocol and provides a free server on amessage.info along with a working Jabber gateway. It is what I use.
Best of luck!

Mailing List Archive
Did I mentioned that being text based it works great accross SSH connections. I've been using this program for years, and I have full history for hundreds of contacts going back to late 1999.
All in one window too! Everything is allways visible on the main screen. -
CenterICQ
CenterICQ is a text based console app which uses ncurses, and color themes.
It supports AIM, Yahoo! ICQ, MSN Messenger, and IRC.
cICQ has the best interface of any console app I have ever used, and the developer Konst, reponds to almost anything posting to the mailing list... I myself have had almost a dozen of the features I requested added to the program.
The program is completely stable, supports chat mode for all protocols, full history, ignore lists, contact groups, non IM contacts, collapsable groups, hide offline users, etc.... honestly -- this program has almost every worth while feature I've ever seen in any IM client -- not to mention that it supports every single protocol seamlessly, so the user (unless he/she organized contacts into groups based on protocol, wouldn't even know what protocol their contacts were using...Mbr>
whatever, enough rambling... download this program, and support Konst's development!
