More visualisation methods
Given that this uses Google Earth, a 3d tool (unlike google maps) it might be useful to be able to do things like play with the elevation to represent different types of data (doable, I'm sure, if not that useful) or alternatively (and more practically) plot bar graphs on the area which they represent- height would represent one value, colour another- you could even segment the graphs vertically. I did a quick previs of what this might look like if anyone is interested

Re:Television
Those ads are a different form of advertising altogether- I think advertisers are now trying to make some ads as bad as possible just to get attention. Why spend a million on a great piece of marketing when you can create something shockingly bad and make an impression. Cillit Bang even makes it on to b3ta.com - consider my effort
:D :

Re:Suggestion: Until Death of Creator
Unfortunately in Cliff Richard's case, he appears to have died a long time ago.

Re:E-Paper keys?
Where exactly do you see a place for your contextual list of commands that start with CTRL on this interface.
This was my interface just before I checked my mail. I'm running at 1680*1050 on a 24" Dell and I barely, barely have room for everything (I'd be running at 1080p but my video card hasn't got a big enough frame buffer).
Keyboard shortcuts and the means to remember (or quickly refrence) them are a fact of life, and solve numerous interface problems. You'd be making the same type of baseless argument if you suggested that the GUI is the only means that we should be able to interface with the computer, or that the console should be the only means of issuing system commands.
The optimus *is* different because it puts the shortcuts right there, and allows immediate customisation of those shortcuts. It beats the heck out of any type of F-Keys or alternate bindings, and is a whole lot better than sticker sets (I've spent enough of my life sticking on labels with tweezers, thanks very much).

Re:Katana comparison
I was just looking around on ye olde interwebbe for someone knowledgeable on knives and techniques for forging them- and I think I might have stumbled across the right person
;)
I was given a knife as a gift for helping someone out (he's a Blacksmith and made it for me ^^ ), and he set me the challenge of finding out what was special about the material in the blade.
I suspect it may be Damascus steel or a related technique........... the pattern in the steel resembles the type of pattern I've seen in those blades, though it's nowhere near as dense and I personally think it actually resembles wood grain..... anyway here's macro shot of the blade I hope you can help- mail me if you need more info :)

Re:Brilliant...
In my own self whoredom, I was thinking of doing a series of very short (maybe 30 second) sketches that would be posted to Youtube/ Google video , featuring a character I produced for a project back in Uni. I'd tag it with my multimedia design company's logo and website address in order to attract business.
Here's a pic of my character , I'd add a couple of more guys like him and start to come up with some scripts. I was thinking of making JimBob (the guy in the pic) really clean cut, and having two other toys who get him into trouble...... or maybe it'd be him and a female toy talking about 'relationship' stuff, and try and make .... anyway I think it could be funny. It'd also be nice to get ad. revenue from a venture like that :D -

Re:I guess
I wonder if these tweaked machines would be more efficient and cost effective at doing rendering for 3D graphics than the usual cluster of Xeon machines that most offices tend to use. If so, it might work out extremely well for Apple (and artists everywhere), who could see orders from architectural offices (very common users of small (possibly beowulf
;) ) clusters) and animation studios. I certainly wouldn't mind a few of these for the teeth i'm rendering
