Re:OS X Maximizes browser choice?
icab is crap, and no one uses it anymore.
iCab is impressive in the fact that it's essentially the work of one man. Two if you count the InScript (iCab's ECMAScript engine) developer. Until Opera got into the Mac scene, it was the number three GUI browser for the Mac, and it had implemented the link tag, which spurred Opera and then Mozilla to do so. With that in place, intelligent pre-fetching became possible, and Herr Clauss implemented that too. For these reasons alone iCab is important. Add that it's the only actively developed browser for Classic MacOS that I know of, and definitely the only actively developed browser for 68k Macs, and it is definitely worth mentioning. These niches may be small, but if you're in that niche, iCab is the most important browser out there. My mother-in-law has a 6100, and iCab is the only modern browser (broken ol' Netscape 4 is not really an option) she can run with acceptable speed.

Re:Tabs seem to...
The only reason I can think of for pagination is when the text is really long, maybe too long to take in one sitting like my masters' paper, breaking it up could help by letting the user bookmark the page he's on at the time. I suppose if you had in-document anchor points, that would work just as well. Single page documents are obviously easier to print for off-line viewing.

Re:Due process
Ahem. Ninth Amendment. Tenth Amendment.
A right is something inherent to yourself that does not involve taking from others. (You therefore have the right to pursue happiness all you want, but you do not have a right to happiness itself.) If it's not been expressly delegated to government, it is retained by the people.

my YDL (2.1) experiences
I've only recently installed YDL on my old-ish Mac and haven't had time to even really configure or use it much yet. So I'll probably give 2.2 a miss, but maybe I'll be ready by 2.3. I'm happy just having Linux available for my hardware, so I'll probably pay for my next copy.

my experience with 2.1
Since I only have a dialup, and relied on the goodwill of the local LUG to burn 2.1 to CD for me, I don't think I'll be grabbing 2.2 soon. So far (which isn't very far due to lack of time) it's been going well. The next time I need a distro, I'll buy a copy to support the movement.

Re:I Can Understand Why He Did It
Reminds me of article 2 from the Bill of Non-Rights.
