Re:painted into a corner...
The "sanitary regulated onesie living" was a reflection of the fact that they were on the flagship of a psudo-military vessel. Militaries around the world wear much stupider things in this day and age:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/w... --I'd take a Star Trek onsie over this any dayThe civilians depicted did not dress in onesies, far from it - the costume design (especially in TOS) for the aliens/civilians was as varied and out there as it gets - again, it was a contrast of normalization (everyone dressing the same - a very 50s attitude) vs the creativity that is possible when you don't have the expectation of the norm (what the alien cultures provided)
In TNG they started to bring in more personality to the characters with Picard's anthropology, Riker's music, Worf's Klingon culture, etc and the sets "10 forward", the holodeck, etc without losing the ability to contrast. In DS9 they used the contrast to great effect - especially with what they did with Jake and Nog. Jake became less and less "federation-like" in his attitudes and dress as the story progressed while Nog made the opposite journey.
Throughout TOS/TNG/DS9 there were always very clear distinctions between "military" and non-military dress, attitudes, & culture for all the major races.

Re:I hope they paid him a bajillion dollars....
I hope they CGI out the awful earring holes he has in his lobes. HD does a wonderful job of pulling me back to reality when I see old men with pierced ears.

Re:Reform Without Wasted Draws
But most of the times when the Japanese PM changed, it wasn't because of new elections; rather the governing party changed leaders, which resulted in a new PM, since the PM is the leader of the governing party.
And yes, I know about the mah-jongg manga and anime. Give it up for Super-Aryan Hitler!

Re:Irrelevant
Mario was in 12 games starring him in 21 years. Final fantasy did 14 over 23 years.
It's even murkier than that. Look at Super Mario Brothers, then 2, then 3, then Super Mario World, then Super Mario 64, then Super Mario Sunshine, then Super Mario Galaxy. You don't play *any* of those games the same way. I don't mean that they have expanded levels or extra features, I mean the skills you learn from 2 don't directly apply to 3. Compare this to Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. Sure, there are additions and improvements along the way, but you could be driving around Liberty City then suddenly materialize in Vice City and there wouldn't even be a hiccup in the gameplay.
I realize some of you are tired of hearing the name "Mario". I get it, no prob. But if you're going to rake anybody over the coals over video game sequelitis, is it really going to be Nintendo? There's a difference between having a game that has "Mario" in the title and creating a sequel. Super Mario Galaxy II is a sequel to Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy is in the same franchise as Super Mario Sunshine. See how Galaxy isn't called Super Mario Bros. 7?

Re:Ridiculous, Impossible, Etc.
I've given it up for years at a time. Presently, in point of fact. A lot of potheads are hippie dippie types who will periodically 'cleanse' (variously defined).
What about you? Coffee, booze, cigarettes, sex? Addicted to clean living? It's one of the fundamental instincts of mankind to want to experience different mental states. Weed does that with one of the lowest incidences of side effects, and it's cheap to produce.
There is a correlation in the behavior you see, but the causation runs oppositely. Taking a hit off a joint isn't going to turn anyone into a liberal peacenik hippie, ah...oops. Sorry about that, Bill. Anyway, point being, you're still the same person after you put that joint down.

Re:Consoles need to invest more on hardware.
Oh yeah, the diversity of PC games is sooOOOoo remarkable.
