Re:Exxon
Where the fuck do you think gasoline comes from?
Buzz, not all cars use gasoline. Nor does diesel engines run only on petro diesel. The inventor of the diesel engine Rudolph Diesel designed and ran his engine on vegetable oil. He used peanut and hemp oil among others. At the 1900 Paris Expo he used peanut oil. At his Iron Mountain Estate Henry Ford grew hemp he used to construct a vehicle as well as made fuel from it for the car in the 1930s.
I guess they did the impossible, or they didn't do it. However the fact is is Ford And Deisel Never Intended Cars To Use Gasoline".

What happens when a couple major oil fields dry up? We are going to have real badthings happening.
Which is why I'd rather the government support alternative and renewable sources of energy rather than more oil drilling. That is if it's going to support anything, however I'd rather the federal government stop doing a lot of what it does do. Now, I do like Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's million roofs campaign and would like to see other state pick up on it. In Florida for instance it can be very successful. I also like his, Schwarzenegger's, Hydrogen Economy. The US could be a world leader in it however Iceland is the leader. As an interium I support Biodiesel, especially as made from hemp.
But more specifically about money going poof- when the banks closed up, people's savings just disappeared. Mostly it was just money disappearing.
Again, the money didn't disappear, There isn't a black hole the money disappears into never to be seen again. It just ends up in someone else's hands. Or it's wasted but even then it still doesn't disappear.

Re:What about hemp?
Old hat. Here's a link documenting that the first Diesel engine ran on hemp oil[!].

Re:Hemp Powered Cars
And of course, the first Diesel engines ran on hempseed oil: cite

Hemp Powered Cars
Wouldn't it be great if we could pay our farmers to grow crops (Hemp)
as opposed to paying them not to grow crops. Bio-diesel could revolutionize american agriculture, reduce our dependance on outside oils.
On the down side, will the infrastructure changes be cost effective? With Hydrogen Fuel Cells turning the corner, the possibility of making our energy from water and using it across the boards (Homes, Cars, Shipping, ect.) might level the playing field a little and let the good parts of this whole free market shine through.

Re:Biodiesel baby
An interesting alternative fuel is biodiesel
And many people don't know that the diesel engine was originally invented to run on hempseed oil. Fuel, fiber, food, medicine, a nonaddictive and nontoxic intoxicant. If there is a god, Cannabis must surely be a gift from him. -
Re:Hemp does this
of course i did not preview... so they are going to keep engineering plants to patent and sell, because there is money in patented plants and not in what occurs naturaly, instead of lifting a law that was enacted due to lobbyists from corporate industry. sound familiar? and even though hemp was illegal, farmers were asked to grow it during WW2 because nothing makes better rope. Or paper, or fiber, more nutritious than soybeans.
