Re:This is the futureBut as it happens Denmark's per capita energy usage is also less than 1/2 of the US.
And yes, at least a good chunk of that is actual, honest-to-god lifestyle differences, not just situational.

Re:I'm not big on security by obscurity, but...
Where I'm from the trolleys are all chained together (blurred out some kid on the pic and added black circles around areas of interest).
To unchain one you have to insert a 10 or 20 kroner coin into a box on the trolley. You get your money back (the coin pops out) when you return the trolley and chain it back up. I think it works quite well. Low tech. -

Stop the "Only in US-oil industry lies", here's EU
Here's something that describes a theory and experiements by danish scientists. The statement that it is only in the US that people is arguing the global warming because of the oil industry is simply false and an easy way to discredit the research done by those who you do not agree with.
These guys aren't saying that CO2 might not be one of the causes but that it might not be the biggest cause.

"Results from an experiment, called SKY (Danish for 'cloud'), show that the released electrons significantly promote the formation of building blocks for cloud condensation nuclei on which water vapour condenses to make clouds.
Hence, a causal mechanism by which cosmic rays can facilitate the production of clouds in Earth's atmosphere has been experimentally identified for the first time.
The Danish research team, headed by Henrik Svensmark, officially announced their discovery 4 october 2006 in Proceedings of the Royal Society A, published by the Royal Society, the national academy of science, United Kingdom."
The place they performed the experiments: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cern http://public.web.cern.ch/Public/Welcome.html
"Global warming caused by cosmic rays?
It is known that low-altitude clouds have an overall cooling effect on the Earth's surface. Hence, variations in cloud cover caused by cosmic rays can change the surface temperature. The existence of such a cosmic connection to Earth's climate might thus help to explain past and present variations in Earth's climate.
Interestingly, during the 20th Century, the Sun's magnetic field which shields Earth from cosmic rays more than doubled, thereby reducing the average influx of cosmic rays. The resulting reduction in cloudiness, especially of low-altitude clouds, may be a significant factor in the global warming Earth has undergone during the last century."

Re:Hold on, more info in the summary than the arti
The article referenced mentions nothing regarding hydrogen loss
That's because its not an article, but some commercial blurp on the newly formed company. This information is in the pressreleases send out, most of which are only in Danish in the moment.
The closest thing at the moment is this. - and they even get it wrong by saying "[the]...hydrogen pill doesn't lose energy when it is used" - In a couple of days it should be all over. -
Re:What this proves out is..
I am looking forward to the day when, like on the moon, I see the Stars and Stripes planted in the Martian soil.
No, I want to see the danish flag planted in the Martian soil and all of Mars claimed as danish territory ;-)Seriously, no nation should be able to claim an entire planet as their territory just because they were the first to land a person on that planet.

Re:very US centric perspective
[snip]... and at that point an SMS costs around 5 to 10p (approx. 8 to 16c at current exchaneg[sic] rates)... [snip]
That much? Most carriers in my country offer SMS at 3c-5c a piece, and some even offer them for free, along with heavily subsidized handsets (routinely below $20 a piece for a moderately advanced model). Maybe that's the reason why everybody and his little sister uses SMS all the time. In schools, the passing of little handwritten notes has been completely taken over by sending SMS'es. With group sending capabilities and the incredible ability (and agility) to type messages at high speed on a tiny keyboard without looking, it's a HUGE hit with the teen and pre-teen crowd. An old fart like myself can hardly figure out where 'space' is on the damn tiny thing, but almost everyone under the age of 20 seems to have a sort of 'SMS-mode' in their hands. Not sure whether it's impressive or scary...
But have you noticed how advertising for cell phones has moved away from phone calls? Now it's color screens, multimedia/animations, digital cameras, polyphonic ringtones, embedded games etc that makes a selling. No one is really interested in whether it can reliably carry a phone call or send an SMS, because that's a given fact now. With the HUGE success of SMS, they're all scrambling to develop the next killer app for cell phones, and it'll be interesting to see what it is.

Re:What about Gallileo (if it was operative)
Yesterday morning, Denmark stated their full support for the war.One submarine, and another ship has been sent to the gulf. Our PM even got paint poured over him

The way of CD-copying in Denmark
In Denmark (where I live), it is legal to copy CDs for backup and personal use. Furthermore it is legal to lend your CDs to your friends, who may then copy them. It is even legal to copy CDs from your local library. All this copied music can be encoded as you choose, and as a result all my mp3s are legal.
This, of course, has caused tons of contreversy, but the fact is, that the Danish government has recognized the right of the individual to manipulate, compile and even share legally purchased music...
I am not sure if this harms the music industry, and there has been talk about putting a small price on getting CDs from the library, but for now, it is totally free, and totally legal.
Oh... btw - artist of course get the regular royalties from people getting their CDs at the library... so they DO earn some from it.
