Re:Typical american slasdotters
> European Government actually does something about patent trolls. Yeah, right. A warning carries a lot of weight.
Do you mean "warnings" such as when the European Patent office revoked the Nespresso coffee pod patent?

Re:Blackberry?
Plus, if you go with RIM today, you'll get to do all this again in a year or two after they're done imploding! Maybe you can volunteer to run their NOC!

Re:and why not ?
"Also TFA is complete bullshit, China cannot corner the Neodymium market:"
While that statement is true, you are distracting from the real issue. China is indeed striving to corner strategic mineral markets, and it's not "news".
http://www.asianresearch.org/articles/3124.html 2008 article which points out China's growing presence in the African mineral trade market.
http://www.chinamining.org/Companies/2009-03-26/1238054106d22981.html March 2009 article about China's growing presence in the common metals market, with passing reference to strategic metals.
http://www.domain-b.com/industry/Mining/20090327_australia_rejects.html March 2009 story about China making a bid to take over Australian mining.
http://english.cri.cn/7146/2009/01/08/1481s441134.htm January 2009 More to the point of this thread on slashdot, China is regulating the mining and export of strategic metals.
And, of course, this all goes back to their 10-year plans, and their bid to dominate the world, economically, politically, and militarily - the "Assassin's Mace". People with the slightest clue are worried about neodymium - but they are still missing the "big picture". That damned Assassin's Mace is a working plan, that is moving ahead, while the rest of the world sleeps.
The world economy won't improve, so long as China is waging an economic war, and we don't even realize it.

Yes, you can make the economy plunge ...
Anyone remember the UA debacle last September? If the markets are sufficiently hysterical, you can make them plunge with a single headline, regardless whether it's correct or not. The wrong reporting about UA was corrected immediately, yet it sent the markets into a nose dive from which they haven't recovered yet. Regardless of whether the blogger is correct with his statements or not, I would call the reaction of the south korean gov't alarming and telling of the economic troubles soon to emerge there.
So what this incident with the south korean blogger tells me:
- The south korean economy is on the verge of big trouble
- The south korean government is aware of it and desperately tries to keep this concealed
- The south korean government has never heard a thing about the Streisand effect

Intergraph Tried This Strategy and Failed...
In my hometown of Huntsville, AL the local-boys-made-good company of Intergraph (noted for their innovative CAD/CAM terminals 10 years ago) tried to get out of hardware and focus on software to cut losses but it didn't help. They've lost over a quarter billion dollars in the last five years and haven't had a profitable year since 1992. They're still saying they'll be profitable someday... Good luck Compaq - it was nice knowing you....
