Here is an interesting article I saw in Doom3World.org: http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=

Here are some interesting links about ClipMapping/ClipTexture: http://www.cs.virginia.edu/~gfx/Courses/2002/BigDa ta/papers/Texturing/Clipmap.pdf http://www.sgi.com/products/software/performer/pre sentations/clipmap_intro.pdf http://techpubs.sgi.com/library/tpl/cgi-bin/getdoc .cgi?coll=0650&db=bks&srch=&fname=/SGI_Developer/P erf_PG/sgi_html/ch15.html -
Re:Meh.
One example and another
Now, I won't claim that these shots prove the viability for outdoor maps on the Doom3 engine, but they do look promising. The first screenshot from the first link is especially good, I think. The trees underneath the power lines really are that far away. And the map plays really well, too.
I can't find it right now, but somewhere on the Doom3World forums is a screenshot of a really friggin' big landscape, so big that the Cyberdemon put in is only a few pixels tall at a normal gameplay resolution. And that was with a pretty good framerate, too. -

Re:Wow.
Since this is a community project, which isn't being produced by professionals under excellent art direction over a period of 5 years I'd say its looking pretty good. http://img162.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img162&image=b722

D3 Can Do it Too!There is a very nice project that I have been following recently that shows off the Doom 3 engine. A large group of people have been creating an outdoor scene, alot like Trafalgar square. Currently it has a Day-night cycle script, door interaction and some nice catapult physics. It runs suprisingly well for something that curently has almost no optimisations.
For those that are interested, you can find the project here:

Replying to some previous posts...
Today i've tryed hl2dm, and personally i prefer hl1dm, its much more fun.It seems like Valve wanted to make a surprise without working much, well that's a good intention
:).
Some dude said that no other game has a gravity gun, well doom3 has it, just download the mod from planetdoom.com
Now about doom3 modding and mapping check doom3world and take a look at this very interesting project. -
