    They can solicit all they want, but they're still 100% harmless if they fail to get physical access to the intended victim. When they try to, that's when they'll lose their anonymity and the attacker is no more safe than they would have been in low-tech 10000 BCE. Internet anonymity is useless to rapists unless you think they're going to hack your peripherals.

    That might be impressive just becouse you've never hear of NERD ROCK! An Intel 386-DX with a buggy Win3.11 installation as the lead MIDI performer and a TEXT-TO-SPEACH vocalist?! Isn't that what you've always dreamed about?

    Something similar was done by Alexei Shulgin in 1998, on a 386. Sure, he did it by writing the phonetic instructions for the speech synthesis engine by hand, but Yamaha's solution is just a much more sophisticated (and better funded) version of that.

    Check out 386DX, his band project. Which includes the 386. That only has 4 MB of RAM and also has to do visualizations and MIDI sound at the same time.

    I've had the fortune of seeing him perform live in Linz as well as chatting with him a little, and he came to our school for a lecture. He has a few brilliant projects, maybe you might like WIMP which he developed with a friend.

    but it sings too itself.. :) (fm synthesis musics, singing is done via some text-to-speech synth)

    how is it different from playing some mp3 on faster machine, or playing just wavs? well, the user experience might be the same for some(but it has taken some work to make it sing like that :).

    This reminds me of 386DX. It's just about as bad, but he pulls it off on a 386 with 4MB of RAM.
