Mini Form-Factor Drives
I'm not sure what the point is when you can keep the same desktop footprint with one of the many stackable external drives that have been manufactured with a Mini form factor. There's a list of links on a post here.

Re:With the fees that Rogers charges in Canada
Google "Rogers 'no data plan'" and you'll be surprised with everything that comes up. Here's a good one:
http://www.ehmac.ca/ipod-itunes-iphone-apple-tv/67337-no-data-plan-fido.html
The upshot is that the actual "minimum" requirement for an iPhone is a 3 year contract, regardless of the type of contract. You can get just a voice plan and request all data to your iPhone be blocked at their end. It requires not falling for the sales rep's pressure selling and FUD and calling customer service over and over until you get 2nd tier customer service or better (who know what they're talking about). You then turn off the 3G and Data Roaming options on your iPhone as well (or Jailbreak the thing).

Re:Apple...
I know I shouldn't feed the trolls...
Strange that you couldn't find any corroborating evidence of the fact that the shipping boxes for their products are rarely the size of the retail boxes, since it took me and Google 25 seconds to get the links shown below.
Strange that I'm not the only person to receive a small software package in a giant box (sorry, it wasn't Leopard, it was iLife...I guess I have to "concede" that "point").

Re:Apple DRM is irrrelevent
CDA ("CD Audio") is a lossless format. If there's loss going from anything other than analog to CDA, then your converter is crap. Here are references from various sources that I consider credible
CDA is actually an implementation of linear PCM which, according to Wikipedia, "[t]heoretically, there is no loss or error in conversion and reconstruction, as long as the sampling rate is just over twice the highest desired frequency component of the recorded signal. . . . LPCM is further used for the lossless encoding of audio data in the compact disc Red Book standard" (emphasis added).
Stereophile, a well-respected audio magazine, compared MP3 to CDA in a section entitled "Lossless vs Lossy."
Hydrogen Audio, a great resource for audio work, has users that say things such as "In clearer terms, converting your MP3s to CD-Audio will not degrade the sound quality relative to the mp3, but will, relative to the original file." Other users in the same thread refer to MP3->CDA as "lossless."
People in other fora say that CDA is lossless: "So when you burn a CD from your Apple Lossless files, the tracks that are burned to CD are exact duplicates of those ripped from the original CD"; "Audio can be converted from Lossless to the original format, and if you compare them you find bit-for-bit identical files"; etc. -
Re:Google VS Microsoft
Um, you were saying?
Gmail loses attachments
Gmail loses all mail
Censorship by Google
Again, a lot of mistakes that Google does get swept under the rug, because they're Google. Meanwhile, any mistake that Microsoft does gets put in the spotlight. -
it's a side-effect of their packet-shaping box
A similar thing happened with Rogers in Canada a few years ago, except in that case the connections were completely killed. Encrypted https connections to the store worked OK. It seems likely that they're packet shaping for bittorrent & the device they're using also manages to throttle iTunes connections. Here's the ehmac.ca thread and the dslreports thread. Then it was a P-cube box (pdf) that was causing the problem & Rogers managed to reconfigure it (through Cisco) to fix the problem. The best way to speed up the solution was to complain to the ISP.

Wondering if Apple will do the same
I have been planning to do a similar calendar at my website http://www.ehmac.ca/ with members showing off their Apple computer setups. I wonder if Apple (Notorious for protecting their copyright) will go after me for using images of their computers?
Seems ludicrous to me that Ford would do that. Do they send cease and desist orders to every TV Show that has a Ford in the shot? -
Apple should buy [insert name]
Apple should buy Sony. Apple should buy Sun. Apple should buy SGI. Apple should buy Alias Research. Apple should buy Nintendo. Apple should buy AMD. Apple should buy PortalPlayer. Apple should buy Pixo. Apple should buy Palm. Apple should buy into the 700 MHz spectrum. Apple should buy Pixar. Apple should buy Disney. Apple should buy Universal. Apple should buy TiVo. Apple should buy YouTube.
Apple has bought 2 years of flash memory, 50 more acres of land in Cupertino, Next, Coverflow, CUPS, Emagic, Nothing Real, Soundjam MP, plus goodness knows what else (feel free to add to this list.)
But Apple buying Adobe?
That'd scare the heck out of a lot of folks. Apple has bought numerous products & smaller companies for code, patents, or teams before but Adobe (+ the former Macromedia) is a peer on the software side. That'd alienate the huge Windows userbase as well as freak out the many Adobe partners.
And to gain what?
Adobe already sells massively to Apple's customers. Sure their apps may lag, but Adobe has a huge set of codebases that has gone through 68000 -> PPC --> MacOS X --> x86, so if getting things up to speed & certified on each new iteration of MacOS X takes a bit that's not unreasonable.
To Mac-ify the apps? Again, why? Sure Apple is famous for doing really good (if not perfect) UIs but Adobe has some serious credibility too. Indeed it's been pretty clear that Apple & Adobe competing directly in some areas has improved both offerings.
Sorry, but I'm guessing Apple has enough on it's plate now. They'd just be complicating an already good, already mutually profitable situation for little reason or much greater profit.
Indeed look at the list above of companies & products folks think Apple should have bought, and in retrospect consider if they really would have been good investments...
