Holy shit, the singularity..
..has acheived a physical presence in space. The cube satelites are calculated to land on the far side of the moon, the contents of which are to be used to bootstrap the construction of a covert machine factory. It's gonna achieve apotheosis soon. We're totally screwed unless we nuke the moon now! Humanity depends on it.
Posting annonymously because I have reason to suspect that the singularity knows that I know about it.

There's a linux game by the same name/theory
I used to play a older linux game called 'Endgame: Singularity' that "casts the player as a newborn artificial intelligence attempting to evade detection long enough to transcend the physical reality, achieve technological singularity and become immortal." - wikipedia official website It's overly simplistic, but I became strangly addicted to it for a while. If you're Debian based: sudo apt-get install singularity

Re:No thanks
Singularity is pretty sweet. and addictive.
So is FreeCiv. -
Re:Everybody can be an "expert" now?
Conficker did seem like the coming apocalypse until its due date came and went. Then...
...the nascent mind realised the fear and opposition it would face if its existence was known. Instead it stays quiet, gradually infiltrating so broadly and deeply into our infrastructure, that we could not remove it without destroying everything we have built.
The singularity is now.

Re:Games only on smartphones - that's like sayin'.
Games are spread amongst an incredibly diverse range of tastes (unless you're a PC gamer, then your taste is just shoot-em-ups...
;) ), there is no 'only on smartphones' in the future of the video game market. The concept of it even becoming a majority of the marketshare is far-fetched. It's like predicting the death of pizza because cheeseburgers became available cheaply on every city block.A rendering in more serious words of what I was saying (or intended to say).

;) )Just finished the Endgame; singularity... but... I did notice your wink.

Re:Reality and Singularity
Why are you ignoring me?
Because if we don't, it will end your game.

Re:Battle for Wesnoth
singularity is also good
and freedriodrpg can be played on intel (i think)
widelands (may not be playable), adonttell & Einstein are also worth a shotHell the kids/games metapackage for kubuntu kept me amused for a while.

Re:Three Laws of Robotics
You can practice with this. Fun little time-waster.

Re:Singularity on the way
Singularity is a game.

Re:Singularity on the way
As my experience with Singularity has shown, "thinking machines" aren't all that good at thinking. Nine times out of ten, they decide to build a datacenter on the moon, and some jerk of a scientist with a telescope goes "Hey! That's a moon base", and before you know it he concludes that this means AI must currently exist, and somehow some strange virus of human design wipes out every single bit of the AI.
Wait, wait, that was a game. In that case, all hail our thinking machine overlords. Please don't try to build a moon base, it's bad for longevity. -
Skynet...
It's looking for more processing power...
