Re:Unable to debate on the facts
Not in one advertisement, not by one Cisco or NetGear rep among the parade that goes through here every year, not by one network engineer. Gore was obviously given some talking points by his handlers and flubbed one of the words.
I'm afraid you're just persisting in your small-world ignorance. Have you ever heard of Time Berners-Lee? Given that he invented the World Wide Web, I think he qualifies as someone who knows what he's talking about. He pronounces it "root-ers" not "rowt-ers".
Maybe you need to see it confirmed elsewhere?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbGAOroACGcGiven that I have corrected you already on this and you're continuing to deny it, you're now firmly in the camp of liar. Even more so than the journalists who aren't familiar with firearm taxonomy. At least they can claim ignorance, you've now lost that defense.

Re:(A) Clever. (B) Boring."there is nothing further to say"
Let's hope that this time you're telling the truth when you say that.
By the way, here's some actual cites showing that you're wrong. Notice how you don't have to read every second letter of a Wikipedia cite on a Tuesday to understand what they're trying to say:
http://www.english-test.net/forum/ftopic14784.html - "To form the plural of a lowercase letter, place 's after the letter."
http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/communications/style-guide/editorial - "A's and B's: When referring to grades, use apostrophes"
http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/marks/apostrophe.htm - "An apostrophe is also used to form some plurals, especially the plural of letters and digits"
But let me guess, these cites are worse than your numerological reading of the citations to a Wikipedia article that explicitly contradicts you. Question: Is your inability to admit that you're wrong evidence of some sort of psychological issue?
-
Re:(A) Clever. (B) Boring.
All your sources either disagree with you or don't cover the particular topic.
Here's a couple more sources that agree with me (I'm the original anonymous coward):
English-Test.net, citing the University of Sussex and the University of Delaware as well as Purdue.
eHow.comAnd if you google "plural of lowercase letters" you'll find lots more. But you shouldn't have to do that, and this should never even have been an argument. This is (1) a very common convention of English orthography and (2) kind of obvious if you think about it, since otherwise "as" and "is" and "us" would cause confusion.

In addition to your writing skills, your eyes seem to need some fixing too.
You go on and on pasting some other posts and avoid answering to the real questions, because apparently, it's some kind of competition to you and you feel like you are losing now.
But why use a conjunction to start a sentence? There are many advantages:
It maintains an easy, conversational style.
It preserves a link between sentences, whilst still delivering in a short, punchy vein. (Great for on-line writing).
It reduces the need for long, wordy compound sentences. It is not grammatically incorrect to start a sentence with 'or', 'and' or 'but', and never has been
No, I don't need those three links again. It just shows that you cannot think yourself but feel the need to quote other people or that having a PhD and the relevant "knowledge" (told by other people) is the only way people can think and are justified to make their mind or opinions. And guess what, some people can think with their own brain too.

"You may be in elementary school, but I don't recall myself being." - by Anonymous Coward on Friday February 05, @07:31PM (#31041588)
The CORRECT PHRASE FOR THE BOLDED PART ABOVE would be "but I don't recall myself being in elementary school"...
You clearly have a problem with writing sentence FRAGMENTS... and your grammar has problems too (more evidences of that are below, quoted in YOUR OWN WORDS no less). Read on:
Oh - By the by, I am not in elementary school. I have actually completed collegiate degrees and am further doing so again on yet more (2 courses away now/less than a full semester).
Additionally, in order for myself to even get there in the first place, I scored an almost PERFECT "english section" of the SAT (at 770/800 mind you).
So please - get over yourself already, as you have screwed up too many times here in English writing period!
More evidences of those errors on your part?

P.S.=> So, what did you do here, and here earlier also in attempting to troll me (which you admit you are off topic on to begin with here no less)? Ok:
http://tech.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1505462&cid=30729986
Yes, it's obvious that you're the same "AC 'writing critique' slinging troll" who STARTED A SENTENCE WITH A CONJUCTION NO LESS there in the URL above - whom YOU said you were not HE, & that's clearly b.s. period.
Funniest part is, you did the SAME MISTAKE HE DID, right here in this very exchange as well:
"And no, I'm not the other AC that commented about your writing style in the link."
Please - don't attempt to tell others how to write, and don't try to tell us that "ebonics style english" is correct, when the bulk of the evidence I produce above states QUITE CLEARLY OTHERWISE.
Especially when you don't write well yourself, per your mistakes above in starting sentences with a conjunction, using "And" on your part!
(All that, & despite your stating you cannot read my posts? Well, you do an AWFUL GOOD JOB RESPONDING TO EACH POINT I MAKE, "isn't that odd" (sarcasm/NOT)... so who do you think you are kidding? Not I, or anyone else reading, you "AC writing critique slining troll", rotflmao)... apk

(No way you are a professional writer... but you certainly ARE an OFF TOPIC TROLL, & most likely a liar about your alleged "professional writer" status, because when I asked your name or books of note you have written? YOU RAN, lmao... Utterly hilarious!)
Heh, I "took you out" on YOUR alleged ballcourt too, WITH EASE...

Re:What?
The true fact is that there is an enormous value input to the body of "free software,"
Ok.and as nobody is attempting to recoup that value, it's being dumped.
My, that's a lot of malarkey in a single clause. The for-profit organizations involved are very definitely charging for their work; if they weren't, most of them wouldn't be making money at all. Now, should Novell be suing Red Hat for dumping, or should Red Hat be suing Novell? Or should Novell be suing IBM? Or IBM Red Hat? Or should they all be suing the Debian crew? I know! Let's all sue ESR! THAT'll work. But of course that's not actually loony enough to stun people's brains into insensibility. You had to pack more in there: competent businesses are making money for their work, the barriers to entry are just stunningly low, the whole business has, as you say, produced "enormous value" and, according to your reasoning, this is a bad thing... because
... they're building on work that wasn't done for profit? It's supposed to be somehow illegal to make work available for public benefit on reasonable and non-discriminatory terms? But even outlawing work for the common good isn't loony enough. No. You want to outlaw using that work. Corporations liable for using benefits freely available to all! The low, criminal depravity!

Re:Worst. Sentence. Ever.
The word "whit" means "a tiny amount of something."
I knew that.Pray tell, what would "to whit" mean?
Work it out yourself, Einstein. Accurate to a very small measure? Right on the dot? To the penny?Unfortunately, there's a certain caliber of person which simply blindly believes whatever they were raised on, and chooses to look down on anyone which says otherwise.
No, I've always used it wuth an "h" (not that I write it every day) but it sems you are in fact right. Arrogant and not particularly funny, but right - at least this time.Few people's arrogant and erroneous attempts at snide rebuttal develop googlefight results as stilted as 90k versus 2mil.
As you're such an authority on words, no doubt you'll explain to us all how the ratio of two numbers can be "Stiffly or artificially formal; stiff" or even bombastic; stiffly pompous. How ironic[1] - you don't know what the word means, and it describes you.
So, One all. Oh, except I'm still ahead, because I can read the letters "ing" at the end of "resembling" and you can't.
Nice try, but you've yet to even make it to the halfwit mark
Sir, I eagerly await your response. Probably something intellectual, like "My ID is lower than yours - ner ner!".[1] At least in the Alannis Morissette sense. So don't even start about that, gaylord.
