Re:Talaban != Government?Damn right. The Taliban were/are a deeply horrible lot, just like the Northern Alliance who are now in power with the support of all the major Western democracies. I can't believe that we're still supporting people that stone women to death, murder homosexuals and flog people for immodesty after we claimed that we were liberating them from religious fundamentalists.
Contrary to what you may have heard, Afghanistan is not a liberated country, but has become a living hell under the pro-Massoud terrorist warlords. According to the latest UN report, Afghanistan has become the world's largest opium producer and all the warlords and others in power are engaged in the dirty business of drug trafficking. Only a few days ago Human Rights Watch revealed the real situation of alleged "press freedom" in Afghanistan, writing - I quote -: "Security officials have warned journalists to stop publishing critical articles (...). A number of journalists have already been arrested by police forces and detained in Kabul's jails."

What the Taliban did to us...or their own people?
In terms of war it's negligible. It's not nice, and we're certainly not going to run around bragging about it, but it's war, and these losses are nothing compared to what these folks have suffered at the hands of their own leaders.

Re:needs to be said
Please, get a clue.
Consider the clue already gotten.
And if you don't still believe me...Read the topmost story here. -
Re:Not to sound like an asshole, but...
You do. Excellent job =) A dumb asshole at that.
Click here, and then click here to find out how much Afghani women like life under the Taliban.
And don't speak about the Taliban as if they are a legitimate government the people of Afghanistan voted into power. They aren't. They're more like rapists or vultures picking over a corpse the Soviets left behind.

may as well...since our Govt lets the Talibanspread their crappy propaganda around like manure. If anything will ever unite radical terrorists with fearful, already-on-the-brink Islamic nations, the stream of propaganda coming out of Afghanistan & even Pakistan would be it. Not that I have any fear anyway (laughable that it could ever seriously escalate, but time will tell I suppose), but I think it's time we spread some of our own counter-propaganda.
Anybody else care to notice that EVERY single protester in the other nations is MALE? Guess women don't have any say in the matter eh? If you're not already convinced, then this alone should say a lot to the world about how the Taliban feels toward women (besides the videos you can find on the net of their beatings and public executions). Oh well...guess funny pictures in the spirit of mockery are better than nothing.....

Kill the Taliban, then rebuild Afghanistan
Yeah, I live in fear of German and Japanese terrorists every day. Don't you?
First, destroy the Taliban. Then, use our resources to rebuild Afghanistan into a civilized country. Give the next generation of Afghans hope for the future and you won't see nearly as much terror.
The worst thing you could do is "turn the other cheek", because that would simply prove that you kill Americans at will and get away with it. You've seen sharks with blood in the water? That's the situation we've live under.
Here's a link for anyone who doubts the nature of the enemy:
Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) gallery of Taliban atrocities
The world will be a better place for all when the Taliban leaders are dead, just as the world was a better place after Nuremberg.

Re:What's a hacker to do?
There was a Communist government in Afghanistan which was happy to cooperate with the Soviet military. The government was popular in Afghanistan (unlike the Taliban),
Weeeellllll.... I dunno if you could call many of the big-C Communist governments "popular," though I was surprised to find out recently that Afghanistan already had a pro-Soviet government by the 1979 invasion. Now that I know this, further research should prove... interesting.
Friggin' empire builders... always saying they're working for their subjects, while finding new and interesting ways to get them - and everyone else - killed.
Hell, I'll just throw my support behind RAWA; they at least seem to give a flying fuck about the rights and well-being of Afghan citizens, as opposed to the CIA/Pakistan-backed occupation force known as the Taliban.
Interesting side note: "Talib" is apparently an Urdu word for "student." The Taliban were students of extremist schools in Pakistan, funded by the CIA through the ISI and Pakistani military. Witness the power of education, and the results of its abuse. -
Directly from the IslamWay response...
The entire story is based upon a posting by a private individual on Islamway's English language discussion board, in the context of an ongoing dialogue between two individuals. There are over 28,000 postings on the discussion board, with more than 34,000 visitors to the page everyday, and over 4,000 active members. Islamway is in no way responsible for the content of postings by private individuals, anymore than CNN.com or Yahoo! are responsible for the postings found on the discussion boards on their sites...A reporter from an Ottawa television station conveyed to Islamway staff that the Canadian authorities have dismissed the issue as baseless, and B'nai B'rith has refused any further comment.
- IslamWay.com's responseSo first, everyone relax. It wasn't like the owner of this site was actively recruiting.
Second, it sounds like the Canadian government isn't interested in pursuing the issue, which is a relief.
And third, I don't see anyone pulling for net regulation when assholes in our own country start shouting, "Nuke them sand-niggers back into the stone age! I'm gonna get me one tonight!"
As a brief side note: I'd like to remind everyone that the people of Afghanistan live in terror of the Taliban. Please think of the ways they're suffering before blindly calling for their annihilation.
