http://www.foitimes.com/ has details on internment
http://www.foitimes.com/ has details on internment, which includes national archives on where many tens of thousands of American-Germans and American-Italians were concentrated, if you will.

Re:Compare and contrast these "concentration camps
http://www.foitimes.com/ Besides the well known internment camps in California and Nevada for people of Japanese ancestry, she noted that camps were also set up for Germans and Italians throughout the United States and Latin America. No mention of these Irish, though.

Re:The racist 1940s
What about the German Americans? You can pin everything on racism all day long, but much of the same distrust of Japanese people were also directed towards people of the same race.

Re:How long does this need to go on?
At least most every American has heard of the Japanese-American Internment Camps. Nobody ever speaks of the thousands of Germans who were interred in America during the second world war. In fact, thousands of German-Americans were sent to Germany in exchange for Americans. The German-Americans, being sent there against their will, were looked upon as spies and were suddenly in the middle of a war zone. The United States even asked many Latin American countries to arrest people of German descent and send them to America. The US in turn sent those to Germany in exchange for Americans. You can read all the details here: http://www.foitimes.com/internment/gasummary.htm

Re:What things make America great?
"Of course, we can't forget the Japanese-American internment camps run by the US during WWII. I'll let you do your own research on those camps, since the whole subject is far too massive to describe adequately here."
And we should also remember the Italian-Americans and the German-Americans that were also interned by the US during WWII:

And, unlike Japanese-American internees, it appears that Italian-American and German-American internees have never received any compensation. -
Re:What's the limit for?
You're trying to depict the FBI as an organization of jackbooted Gestapo thugs, and that's unfair.
Thats purely disingenuous. The poster describes a scenario where the FBI is unknowingly acting on bad information, and you cry Godwin.
Perhaps your expiriences with The Agency are limited to your dad's company picnics, but they can be pretty farkin scary if they're going after someone they think is a bad guy.
As for the examples you asked for, I decided to expand beyond computer error and include other abuses of FBI authority as well:
WW2 internment
Black Panther Murders
Rescources at GWU's CNSS
Michael Riconosciuto who is serving time for dealing heroin after testifying against the government in Iran Contra.
and so on,
and so on,
and so...

Re:April, 1942:
It wasn't just Japanese Americans who were sent to internment camps or to prison for resisting the draft (as incredible as it sounds, the U.S. Government conscripted men from the camps for military service). German Americans were also imprisoned. German Americans have never been redressed.
