Audrey still good!
I still use my Audrey! It's great for displaying recipes while cooking, seeing who called recently, checking the weather or to start playing mp3's through my home stereo.
This is the simple menu I created for my Audrey:

Why not use PerkBook?
Perl Based Checkbook
It's actually kinda basic, but it's all I wanted at the time. Try the demo

You don't even need the..
..philips Streamium.
I just ran a wire from my home stereo to my linux box and then wrote a simple web interface to madplay which I control through my Audrey that sits in the kitchen.
Read about it here Source is here
It works great for me. Some little bugs, but I'm very happy with it.
I will say that the hack is cool though. Good work. -

Personal Weather Station
It doesn't predict the weather, but it's cool to check out the current temp.
My Weather station -
I have a weather station
... check it out here. It costs less than an hundred bucks and all the data is saved with a few perl scripts and mySQL.

Re:Second post and...
I wrap it into a helix around my finger
Only on /. would someone make a pipe cleaner into a helix ;-)
My cat can fetch too, but she gets a penny. Check it out [pics too] -
Boycott Logitech
How cool would this be with support for a wireless protocol?"
Good luck. I seriously doubt logitech would provide information on developing such a driver for this device.

This is what I did.

Audrey's make a perfect dumb terminal for web applications and you can problably put it on a shelf by your home entertainment system. I keep my Audry in the kitchen so I can pull up recipes too. -
It's about time..
.. we start integrating some jetsons like stuff into our lives.
Why not create a jacket with an integrated GPS/Compass/Temp guage and mp3 player for hikers? Imagine pulling off a protective cover on your wrist and seeing a display showing your heading, location, your body temperature, outside temperature and which mp3 is playing. Doesn't even have to be color, just backlit.
Guaranteed, you can sell this jacket for 700 bucks and people will buy it. Maybe I'm in a minority, but I have money for gadgets, but there just isn't anything out there I want. Got Tivo, got xBox, got my own weather station [offline at the moment as I rewire it], got an Audrey. Maybe I'm just spoiled ;-) -
Star Wars has 2 plots..
.. either you have to blow up the stupid fucking death star/control ship or not.

Re:This is exactly why...
Really? I've had basically ZERO issues on Windows, and random crashes on Linux with Opera. Most of the Opera issues I've run into are 'site display' related. I don't know what you mean by "non-compliant", are you following an MS-approved list? Like the Hardware guide? In any case, IE was being a major nuisance (because of the virus/cache issue), and it definately had to go.
I just had Opera keep crashing on me and no matter what I did, I just couldnt get Shockwave installed. Maybe it was this norwegian crack I used to make it "free" [doh].
I meant compliant as in corporate standards. Normally, removing IE and putting Opera isn't on the approved actions list. This probably only applies to bigger companies though...
Oh, and the Deer [havokmon.com]outside my window - ok, I'm done rubbing it in.)
I don't have deer, just some ground hogs. Check out this beauty though! 19 inches
Just be careful.. soon he/she will start installing their own software and the next thing you know, you'll be trying to figure why WinSpeed 2002 doesn't play nice with Super Contact List 98 muha!
