Re:Showed too much of his hand
Let start why you do not count as a person or as a voter. Because the only one's that have those legal rights under the laws, are the corporations or business. You are not human as per the law, you are a feudal tenant. To see what I mean http://freedom-school.com/what... To witch in the laws of the USA business you do not have any of those legal rights. You loose them when you petition for citizenship, or naturalize your status in the eyes of the law. At that point you stop being a human, and become a civilith or a better known as servant of the state. And yes I did say USA business and just look up what is the national gross product is, the servants of the state. Or what do you think the taxes are for, and I am not talking a bought income tax that is just for the banking system. Also do not forget that you do not elect the president use the USA, that job belongs to the house of representatives. You never have a choice there is always someone being a pointed for all government jobs. It just looks like you have one, did you get the memo read the constitution an all the modifications. So you speak of rights, think a bought it and read. Get informed and have a nice day.

Re:industrial revolution
Not really. Savings is production for which you have not received material compensation (but rather you have received a placeholder, in the form of money--which by itself is worthless as in you can't eat it, can't build a house out of it, etc, but it can be exchanged for those types of things).
If you make something, there will always be someone who wants to consume it. But if all that person has is a little leaf that has "1 dollar" written on it, well, that's not really what you want in exchange for what you have made, is it?
For deeper understanding, read this comic book.
Basically, anyone can consume, which is an act of destruction. It takes talent and hard work to produce, which is an act of creation. When there is more creation than destruction, things are great, but when there is more destruction than creation...you get Detroit. -
Re:If I could do it, I would!
What you fail to understand is that the entirety of the problem comes from the government side, using government guns to enforce their rules on everyone, but in a disproportionate manner. If you have a weak government, you can't have fascism. As such, ANY move to weaken government, reducing it's power to both regulate, and to hand out goodies and protections, is good for EVERYONE.
In order to understand the effects that governments have on economies, I like to share this comic book.
Understand that absent the merger of corporate and government power, the only method that a given company has of influencing the behavior of others, or enriching itself, is to provide a good product or service at a cheap price. -
Re:Let the free market decide
So because sometimes politicians act in a fascist manner to "defend" their pals in business, you blame free markets for the violence? IT WAS THE POLITICIANS THAT CALLED OUT THE THUGS! The market is incapable of acting in such a manner.
BY DEFINITION, FREE MARKETS DO NOT INCLUDE USE OF FORCE. If force is applied at ANY POINT EVER, you don't have a free market. You have fascism, even if it is only for a few hours.
The examples you cited were cases where corporate and government power merged. At the time, the governments weren't nearly as large or as powerful as they are today, and they only intervened in certain situations (like strikes), whereas today they are always and at all times intervening in literally thousands of different ways.
If you really want to understand how economies work, here is a primer, in comic book form. -
Re:the real threat will be government intervention
Maybe if you read this comic book, you'll understand. I doubt it though, since you have demonstrated in the past that you totally unwilling to listen to anyone you don't agree with.
By the way, those children who have been "enslaved" would have wound up either starving in the countryside, or working in the sex industry. Might want to get your priorities straight. In a free market, greed necessarily works to the benefit of everyone (the comic book explains how this works). -
Re:How is that free market working for us?
You mean the time that the United States went from being a colonial backwater to being the most powerful and productive nation in the world? You mean the time when the middle class emerged from poverty of a millennium of oppression?
Why do you hate poor people? Do you just like sticking your boots in people's throats or what? Free markets can't help but promote the socio-economic status of EVERYONE. Here's a really simple primer on how economies grow, and why government intervention hurts everyone, ESPECIALLY the poor: Link.
Also, lets have less name calling, and start acting like adults, shall we? Also, don't compare opposites, it makes you look like a fool. -
Re:Great
Laws don't stop any of those things you mentioned, they only punish those who commit those crimes. No-one can prevent crimes from occurring, no matter how much freedom you give up in pursuit of that goal. Big corporations can violate regulations, and just get slapped with a non-damaging fine, where a small company who commits the same violation, and is hit with the same fine will go bankrupt. Regulations only allow big companies to be non-competitive and still survive.
The only rules which need to be enforced are those against murder, assault (and threats thereof), fraud, and property law. All regulations stem from a futile effort by regulators to prevent people from committing the crimes listed above.
Unfortunately, you, and in fact the vast majority of people, have no idea how or what the free market is, and exactly why government intervention is so harmful. Maybe if you read this you'll understand. It's a simple, but fairly thorough explanation of economics, in comic book form. -
Re:Great
Kim Jong-Il, is that you?
Marxism failed due to both the massive corruption inherent in any large, powerful government and due to the institution of perverse incentives that encouraged workers to be lazy and uncreative. The United States is failing as well, since it adopted Marxist policies (such as a progressive tax combined with inflation), and has fallen under the influence of a large, powerful government.
If you really want to understand how economies work and grow, and why they fail, take a look at this. -
Re:Great
Umm, in a free market, you aren't killing people, you are producing things that people want. It's not the law of the jungle, but the law of the market. Those who produce the most in the most efficient manner will profit. Regulations impose a burden on everyone, but they disproportionately favor those who are already on top, as they are the ones who can most afford it. Why do you think it's been 70 years since the last major automobile manufacturer was founded in the US? Why aren't there any new major charities?
If you really want to understand the way economies work, it's best to start simple and move upwards. As such, here is a nice comic book that illustrates the fundamentals of economics in a clear and easy to understand manner. -
Re:Test Bank CEOs
If he doesn't commit fraud, and his employees aren't slaves, then the CEO is well within his rights to make such a statement, and in being allowed to go about his business would ultimately create a positive cascade effect throughout the economy that would cause everyone to prosper.
If you would like to understand the principles behind that statement, read this comic book. It gives a very good explanation of what free markets really are, and why interference in such markets is never good.
