Re:Note the spin...
Unfortunately Pot has loads of tar in it. "Regardless of the THC content, the amount of tar inhaled by marijuana smokers and the level of carbon monoxide absorbed are three to five times greater than among tobacco smokers"

Re:Rational
Id rather have it illegal and here is my reason. I dont care what anyone says it makes you dumb just like alcohol.
So you would prohibit alcohol then too? And what of person responsibility?
And usage would go up and that means kids would be doing it even more than they are now.
Parental responsibility means nothing then? "Teenagers whose parents talk to them regularly about the dangers of drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those whose parents don't, yet only 1 in 4 teens reports having these conversations."
From the same link: "Alcohol kills 6½ times more youth than all other illicit drugs combined".
As it is now the last stats I saw said that by the tyme they're 18 more than half of the teenagers have already smoked marijuana, and more have tried alcohol. In 2000 37.7% of those between 12 and 17 used marijuana at least once a month. By not allowing parents to offer alcohol to their teen children, when they leave home they will binge. At least if parents are allowed to serve them they can learn to drink in moderation. When I was in Germany in the early '80s it was a common sight to see parents ordering and serving their children alcohol in restaurants, yet I didn't see a lot of drunks or alcoholics.
Of course personal responsibility doesn't mean much any more.
Why this push by millions to legalize a drug.
Why this drive to deny freedom and liberty? Why this attempt to deny an extremely industrially useful plant, and along with it economic progress?

Re:Real News
According to an anti-drug propaganda site The percentage of youth aged 12-17 indicating a great risk of smoking marijuana once a month remained unchanged between 1999 and 2000 (37.2% in 1999 and 37.7% in 2000).2
So, more American youth "are at risk of smoking marijuana" (and presumably think it should be legal) than Chinese believe in freedom of speech.
Methinks China's propaganda machine works a whole lot better than ours does. -
Re:Two totally different crimes
In case you didn't know, marijuana smokers are the most commonly targeted drug demographic these days, and the majority of our tax dollars, go towards fighting marijuana, while proven "bad drugs", such as meth, ruin lives, and run rampant throughout the country
Are you suggesting we arrest our men and women in uniform? Terrorist!
... BTW, many states now require an ID to buy over-the-counter cold medicine like Alka-Seltzer.Note, I'm talking real crimes, such as identity theft, phishing, and so on. Not downloading music and videos, which IMHO should be near the bottom of our list of priorities
Which raises and interesting point. How much of this so called 'cybercrime' money is derived from the RIAA's over-inflated numbers? I think the Columbians are still raking in a lot more than the Nigerians.

Re:Way to go GOP!
Just to clear things up, one would smokes crack, not snort it.
How is it used ?
The major routes of administration of cocaine are snorting, injecting, and smoking (including freebase and crack cocaine). Snorting is inhaling cocaine powder through the nose where it is absorbed into the bloodstream through the nasal tissues. Injecting is using a needle to release the drug directly into the bloodstream. Smoking involves inhaling cocaine vapor or smoke into the lungs, where it is absorbed into the bloodstream as quickly as when it is injected.
From this website. Sorry that I'm not as up to date on my illegal drug slang as you obviously are AC. Crack is apparently the smokeable version of Cocaine -- which Dubya did snort back in the 70s -- as opposed to Clinton who had the audacity to smoke weed! How dare he!
