Re:From TFA:
I don't recall seeing anywhere where it says the earth is the center of anything, let alone the universe.
The argument that the Bible requires a geocentrist universe is not generally connected to Genesis but rather verses like that in Joshua where God makes the Sun stand still at the battle at Gibeon. See Joshua chapter 10. The argument is that it doesn't make sense for the Sun to stop in the middle of the sky if the Earth is really stopping. But the verse talks about the Sun stopping, not about the Earth stopping its rotation. There are a variety of other verses but that is one of the most blatant. If you want see other Biblical arguments for geocentrism (as well as Christian theological arguments) you should look at http://www.geocentricity.com/ which is run by sincere modern geocentrists.

Re:Well-rounded?
That's not what the Constitution says. Besides, I learned about different belief systems back in public high school in my world history class. You can't ignore religion and the Constitution doesn't require that it be ignored.
I didn't say it had to be ignore, but that it couldn't be outlawed or advance by acts of government. (Since we're talking public schools, here, we're talking government.)
What "Biblical literalists" would that be? I don't think that means what you think it means.
No, they're just being more literal than most. Specifically, that the passage in Joshua 10 about the sun 'standing still' for several hours means that it's the sun moving, not us. And these people are still out here.

The earth is the center of the universe!!!! -
Re:The Perceived Threat of Science
The parent poster was speaking of the geocentric view of the universe, not belief in a flat earth.

Re:The Mars Rover is a HOAX!
Geocentricity, like Intelligent Design, isn't being given a fair shake by the scientific community. Here's a good reference on Geocentricity. Why force only one point of view on our children? Teach the controversy and let them consider the evidence themselves!

Re:Evolved?
The earth, far from rotating on it's axis and around the sun, is infact set on pillars or foundations and immobile
You got that right! -
Re:Trying to get a feel for evolution in america -
So any Christian declaration that the earth must not be older than a specific age just doesn't add up, by the Bible's own text.
Yes, but it's not about what the Bible says, it's about what they want the Bible to say. They have arrogantly decided that they know the True(tm) interpretation of the Bible and that all other interpretations are heretical. Hell, some of them are still geocentrists!
