Postal 2 Shares Pain In Direction Of Linux
michaelsimms writes "LGP has announced that [ultraviolent FPS] Postal 2: Share the Pain is coming to Linux this summer. Featuring Gary Coleman, Postal 2 is just like Postal Plus, but fully 3D, and with many more ways to get Postal Dude covered in blood and gore! Applications for Beta Testers are now open." The official Running With Scissors press release is delightful, claiming the company "has reached deep into their hairy chest and clutched their cold, cold heart to take pity on the bastard stepchildren of the gaming world", before noting: "'My development guys wanted to finish animating Quentin Tarantino's sequel to The Passion first,' said former altar boy and RWS CEO Vince Desi, 'but when I told 'em this project was for the Linux community, they left Uma up there swingin' in the breeze and grabbed hammer and nails and got right to work.'" -

Postal Wins Court Case Brought by USPS
Thanks to an anonymous reader for pointing out a press release announcing Postal developer Running With Scissors has been ruled victorious in a court case brought by the United States Postal Service. This seems to be the culmination of a trademark suit which began in 1997 after the release of the original Postal, as the USPS commented "All of us at the Postal Service have a sense of humor, but there is nothing funny about your game 'Postal'", and then tried to prove the Postal Service has a proprietary use of the word 'Postal'. Running With Scissors have fun with this legal resolution: "With unlimited financial resources comes unlimited ego. POSTAL and POSTAL 2 represent everything the USPS isn't: a successful private enterprise that will never have to rely on an irrevocable government contract to keep its pockets perpetually lined with cash." -
Postal 2 Not Violent Enough?
An anonymous reader writes "An article from Joystick101.org is claiming Postal 2 is not violent enough to be called a success. Everyone knows that the game failed to live up to expectations, but could more violence have made things better?" I just found Postal 2 to have load times far far longer than any other game I'd played of late, and my own impatience forced me to quit early.
