Re:Google+?If you've got an Android phone, you can do the following:
- Install the Android Debug Bridge on your computer. http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html
- Turn on USB debugging on your phone, and connect it to your computer.
- Install Tetherbot http://graha.ms/androidproxy/ on your phone, and start the Socks Proxy Server.
- Setup ADB to open a port on your computer that forwards to the port on your phone where the proxy server is listening: "adb forward tcp:5555 tcp:1080"
- Set your browser to use localhost:5555 as a proxy server.
Now all your web browsing goes through your phone. If you run Firefox, you can get FoxyProxy to set up URL-based rules for which addresses go through your phone-proxy and which go through your regular company network connection. And no mayo gets on your phone.

Some corrections
As others have said, the "$15 extra for exchange" is wrong; if you have a "corporate" account, then you have to pay $15 extra for the data plan, but it is the same data plan as the "regular people" plan. You can access Exchange just fine with a regular data plan.
Also, it is possible to use tethering without any permission from Verizon. I just got my Droid and spent some time last night setting up TetherBot. It lets you create a SOCKS 5 proxy over USB, which is good enough for web browsing (and anything that can connect over SOCKS). In my test last night, I got speeds of 1.2Mb/s down and 0.44Mb/s up over Verizon's EVDO.
As far as I know, the 5GB "unlimited" limit still applies, so use that tethering carefully.

TetherBot
So, does this mean they're going to have some draconian lockdown that prevents tetherbot from working? T-Mobile doesn't like it either, but it works even on a non-developer G1.

Re:3g Good enough?
Funny you mention this because I just made a call a few hours ago with skype using the 3G from my (tethered) G1 phone and the call was crystal clear on both ends.
If you have a G1 you can tether it with http://graha.ms/androidproxy/ and use it with skype's proxy option.

Re:Gadgetry
Just to rehash another AC: "Fortunately, Android phones can install applications that aren't on the Android Market. You can find Tetherbot (not the application mentioned in TFA, but it has similar functionality and, wasn't available when I checked a minute ago) at http://graha.ms/androidproxy/, with step by step instructions to using it at here."

Port Forwarding part of development toolbox
Hey, what about that app that provides a http proxy on the phone so you can forward your http traffic to the phone via adb and an USB connection? It's what I use if I can get no wifi conn.
Yes, I know it's not REAL tethering, has no WiFi, and is considerably awkward to use, but it does what most people actually need from a tethered phone.
It's not even on the market. I believe Google just did this to make T-Mobile stop whining about how their classic revenue streams dry up. Poor end users. -
Not a problem

It SORT OF affects SP2!
With my SP2 system I naviagated to http://graha.ms/iesploit.html/ and hovered over the link. This is what I discovered:
If you place the mouse on the link it shows the link will take you to google as it should, but if you place the mouse just outside the link (I guess on the table border) it says microsoft. The kicker is, that when it says Microsoft, clicking the link will not do anything. -
A sample of what it looks like

Doesn't seem like anything that couldn't be done with javascript.
